Sony Testing Laugh Detection and Emotional Tracking Software 50°
August 14, 2009 // 12:18 pm - Today Siliconera (linked above) has uncovered an SCEA patent application which reveals that Sony is experimenting with laugh detection and emotional tracking software.

According to the documentation, the application picks up metadata, including laughter recorded by the microphone and a user's expression from the camera.

Apparently the software isn't limited to video games, and can be used for TV shows and films along with other media presentations.

Warhammer Online Character Tracking Live 50°
September 27, 2008 // 10:07 pm - From their blog, linked above: You spoke and we listened. As of today, you'll be able to track your Warhammer Online characters in your Raptr profile. Once you enter your character(s), we automatically track your characters' items, levels, and Renown in your feeds for all you friends to see.

So if you hit Level 40 before any of your friends, they'll know about it. Of course, we created a custom module for your characters, so visitors to your profile page can check them out and see how you're doing.

Sony to have 1:1 Motion-Tracking Sensing Sword Game by X-Mas? 50°
August 13, 2008 // 7:25 pm - Sandy Spangler has revealed two new EyeToy games that will be released by Christmas this year.

Although Hero is the more interesting out of the two. It is a title in which the sword can be tracked at all times and allows for more complex gameplay, sounds like the Wii better be on its guard!

Support for ad-tracking opt out 50°
November 1, 2007 // 5:34 pm - US privacy advocates and consumer bodies are seeking the creation of an opt-out list for internet users who do not want to be tracked by advertisers.

The "do not track" list would prevent companies from tailoring adverts based on a user's web habits.

The groups behind the idea include the Center for Democracy and Technology, Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Consumer Federation of America.

They have approached the Federal Trade Commission to create the list.
