Microsoft Responds to Inconsistent 'Games on Demand' Pricing 350°
August 11, 2009 // 10:28 pm - Microsoft's Games on Demand pricing isn't consistent across the globe. What costs $20 in one place costs $40 (or sometimes more) in another.

Kotaku asked Microsoft, why the discrepancy?

Their response is below, to quote:

"Microsoft HQ said the pricing decisions outside the US were the responsibility of that particular territory. So, for example, if Mass Effect is priced at 6000 Microsoft Points in Australia (as opposed to only 1600 MSP in the US), then that's Xbox Australia's decision."

When Xbox Australia was asked, they added the following:...

July 30, 2009 // 10:19 pm - The Houston Chronicle's game blog recently pointed out the similarity in imagery between Left 4 Dead 2 and the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

The game is set in New Orleans. It was only a few years ago that the city was destroyed, and there actually were corpses moldering in the streets... so it's natural that the game's visuals might remind people of the tragedy.

Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek spoke to Destructoid.com...

June 10, 2009 // 11:12 pm - Valve's E3 announcement that Left 4 Dead 2 would hit this year, almost one year to the day after the original, has seen mixed response. Nearly 25,000 fans of the original have pledged not to purchase the sequel.

Why? As outlined in the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott group's manifesto, that group of fans believe that the "stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming."

Miffed fans believe that the content so far revealed "does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and...

Sony Almost Responds to Lackluster January NPD Results 100°
February 14, 2009 // 8:55 am - Sony's PS3 slump continues. The high price of the PS3, coupled with a weak economy, has proven a one-two punch against Sony's current home console.

PS3 sold 203k units in North America in the month of January. While this may sound good, a look at 2008's results shows a grim trend for Sony. While both the Wii and Xbox 360 have gained momentum from 2008 to 2009, PS3 has actually dropped down.

Things may change for Sony, especially with another year of fantastic exclusives planned for the system. Peter Dille, SVP of Marketing, ignores the January NPD results entirely...
