July 13, 2011 // 8:31 pm - Today PlayStation 3 developer uf6667 has Tweeted news announcing a new PS3 hardware flasher project called ProgSkeet produced by Oscar Dalvit.

Currently the official site ProgSkeet.com doesn't offer any details beyond the ProgSkeet PS3 Install Diagrams and ProgSkeet Multi-Console Install Diagrams, however, he did provide some pictures (below, with high-res HERE)...

Sony Details PS3 and PSP Hardware Sales Data and Expectations 500°
May 13, 2010 // 11:58 pm - Sony revealed today that the PS3 has reached the expected sales of 13 million units for the 2009 fiscal year as part of their latest fiscal report.

As previously reported, with new and more efficient PS3 consoles shipping Sony has moved one step closer to hardware profitability.

The total of PlayStation 3 units sold so far (as of March, 2010) worldwide is now at 35.7 million since the system launched in late 2006.

PSN Crashed: 8001050F - Hardware Failure for PS3 Consoles! 1300°
February 28, 2010 // 7:25 pm - Update: The Examiner.com reports that when contacting Sony they were assured a PS3 fix will arrive by morning, but for those who can't wait you may wish to give THIS FIX a try.

Today it appears PSN crashed, with widespread reports of error code 8001050F - hardware failure for PS3 (non-Slim)...

Up to now, both GeoHot and xorloser have successfully performed the PS3 hack while a few others simply obtained GeoHot's PS3 Hypervisor dump to study privately.

Sega Shares Ryu ga Gotoku 3 PS3 Hardware and Package Design 100°
January 6, 2009 // 11:00 pm - Sega shared today a first look at the special PlayStation 3 hardware bundle it's preparing for the February release of Ryu ga Gotoku 3.

As previously detailed back in December, Sega will release a PS3 hardware bundle pack for Ryu ga Gotoku 3 opposite the game's standalone release on February 26.

Called the "Nobori Ryu Pack" (unofficially translates to "Rising Dragon Pack"), this bundle includes a copy of the game and a specially designed 80 gigabyte PS3 and will be priced at 45,980...

Rumor: Possible Hardware Exploit in PS3 Controller? 300°
July 12, 2008 // 8:40 pm - Manucc1, a member of Spanish community Elotrolado (linked above), believes there may be a possible PS3 exploit in the PS3 Controller... although SIXAXIS or DS3 is not specified, and it could work in a similar manner to the Pandora Batteries in the PSP.

This claim is based primarily on speculation that in the PS3 controller there is a chip that is the same as on PSP, and it is alleged to control Firmware in some fashion.

Sound familiar? Welcome to our 15 month appraisal of Sixaxis - PlayStation 3's controversial motion-sensitive controller.

After nearly a year and a half, it's hard to use the defence that it's 'still new technology'. There's a wealth of evidence by which to judge its success and second-generation games should have learned from the mistakes of the launch titles.

But we have to say, it's not a very convincing case...

Rock Band users discovering hardware issues? 50°
November 23, 2007 // 3:12 pm - While we're still quite early in the game (literally), reports have started trickling in that there may be some substantial issues with some of the hardware included in Harmonix's latest and greatest, Rock Band. According to forum posts from disgruntled users, folks who've just gotten the game are having a litany of problems, from drums with no sensitivity, an always-on whammy, and sticky buttons -- but most of the stress seems to be related to the downstrum.

Current descriptions paint the problem as an overly- or ineffectual strum, resulting in a pretty annoying game experience....
