September 16, 2008 // 4:36 pm - A bullish Microsoft has declared it's happy to go toe-to-toe with rival Sony products, as the two companies prepare for another bloody battle at retail this Christmas.

Speaking exclusively to, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Games Studios, has declared that first-party publishing has always been about exclusives, and he's confident his titles can better anything his bitter rivals at Sony can turn out.

Sony Titles to be shown at PAX Revealed 50°
August 27, 2008 // 7:56 pm - Recently we posted a list of titles that you would be able to expect at PAX from Microsoft. That list contained great titles like Project Origin, Gears of War 2, and even a TBA title that is keep us writers curious of it could be.

On the other hand, Sony has finally revealed what we would see at PAX from their side. In a recent post on the Official Playstation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein has confirmed that we will be seeing the following titles.

MGS5 Announced? Payton mentions Title's Development 50°
August 26, 2008 // 6:28 pm - If you've been amazed by the technical prowess of MGS4, you may have been saddened to know that the title was the last game in the series. Or was it? In an interview with Kotaku, former Assistant Producer at Kojima Productions Ryan Payton (widely credited with the Westernized control scheme for MGS4), mentioned his reasons for leaving the company and memories of developing the acclaimed title.

Sony's Post E3 Conference Press Release: Over 350 New Titles 50°
July 15, 2008 // 11:07 pm - SCEA have issued a post E3 conference press release in which they highlight that they gave attendees a look at over 10 never before seen titles. Sony say God Of War 3 is in full 1080p High Definition and that over 350 new titles from their publishing partners will be released this fiscal year for the PS3, PSN, PSP and PS2.

The press release also states that SCEA will introduce the PS3 Greatest Hits program beginning July 28. With 10 titles as the initial inductees, PlayStation fans have the opportunity to experience the best titles created for the platform at a reduced price of $29.99.

Sony: No plans for PS2 Downloadable Titles on PS3 50°
July 1, 2008 // 2:43 am - In response to a purported sceenshot showing PS2 game downloads for PlayStation 3, Sony says the image "must have been mocked up by an excited consumer."

I'm not sure where the image came from," said Sony's Patrick Seybold, when questioned by GamePro on visible allegations that PS2 games would be coming to the PlayStation Store.

"At this point, we haven't made any announcements, and there are no plans for PS2 downloadable titles on PS3."

European PS3 Platinum Titles Revealed 50°
June 19, 2008 // 9:15 pm - The box art for the first European PlayStation 3 Platinum titles has been revealed today via Ginvoe of the Spanish Forum linked above.

Initial titles include: MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destrution.

These are slated to be the first ones available in the Platinum line.

Rumor: North American Wii running Japanese WiiWare titles 100°
May 4, 2008 // 7:44 pm - Some hardcore Wii enthusiasts have apparently managed to get Japanese WiiWare titles working on a North American Wii, and provided the "WiiWare Hacked" video below as proof.

To quote: Considering how fast the Wii's piracy scene has been moving, someone will likely soon release instructions on how to bypass microtransactions and install downloadable content updates for free, too.

How long will it be before Nintendo steps in to end these shenanigans? Will that mean the end of Wii homebrew, as well? See, this is why we can't have nice things.

ESRB Rates Possible PS1 Titles For PSN 100°
May 3, 2008 // 4:08 pm - For fans of the original PS1, Sony really hasn't been adding classics to the PlayStation Store at a fast enough pace. There have been a few, of course, but there are many more PS1 greats that should eventually find their way to the Store (for play on both the PS3 and PSP).

Well, according to a PS3Fanboy reader, it seems the ESRB has rated several fantastic PS1 titles that have yet to arrive on the Store. Well, we have to assume that if the ESRB is rating these games again, they're being prepped for another release... It's only common sense. Here's the list:
