Review - Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm for PlayStation 3 50°
October 31, 2008 // 9:15 pm - Earliery today Namco Bandai announced DLC for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm.

Now, IGN has made available a video review of it as follows:

Ultimate Ninja Storm is a, as I like to call it, "casual" fighting game that follows the first plot arcs of the anime series and gives players the chance to fight classic Naruto battles, play mini-games and roam the quaint streets of the Hidden Leaf Village.

The most obvious thing you'll notice about Ultimate Ninja Storm...

October 30, 2008 // 8:57 pm - SamehNBeans of GameTrailers (linked above) has shared some scans of the Official PlayStation Magazine's review of Mirror's Edge... and its looking good!

They have awarded the title a score of 9/10, and claim that the "bottom line is you've never played anything like Mirror's Edge. It's a genuine original."

In related news, Forum users zoned and asandhu seem to already be in agreement with many more likely to come.

Review: Fallout 3 Looks Like Rubbish on the PlayStation 3?! 50°
October 23, 2008 // 9:36 pm - Andy Kelly recently reviewed the PlayStation 3 version of Fallout 3 for PSM3. The review has been leaked onto the Web and there has been concern as Andy's review stated that the graphics in the PS3 version compare poorly to its XBox and PC counterparts.

To quote: Our exclusive Fallout 3 PS3 review (from PSM3#107) has leaked onto the Internet and, as expected, a single sentence has been dragged out, beaten and interrogated under a spotlight.

This one; "The PS3 version compares poorly to its Xbox and PC counterparts." Which, in the parlance of the Internet, obviously...

Review: SOCOM Confrontation Full of Problems, Worth Avoiding? 100°
October 20, 2008 // 7:27 pm - GameDaily has posted its review of SOCOM Confrontation, and it certainly doesn't make for pretty reading. Their primary negative factor rests around its online problems and glitches, which they state make it a 'confrontation worth avoiding'. Harsh, but not as bad as the rating - a mere 5/10 (BAD in their terms).

To quote: It's sad that these problems occur, because the rest of SOCOM Confrontation is superb. The visuals are surprisingly crisp, with a steady frame rate (even with 32 players at once), gorgeous map designs, smooth character models and realistic lighting effects. It all...

Review: Fable II for XBox 360 50°
October 20, 2008 // 6:01 pm - Fable II explores what happens when a game does away with most forms of punishment, and does nothing but reward its players from start to finish. The results are astonishing.

It's worth stepping away from the tried and tested Pavlovian mechanics that games have inherited from the coin-crunching arcades to consider what Lionhead is proposing. Almost every game ever made has reinforced its rules with penalties: if you fight and lose, you're killed; if you go off and explore, you get lost; if you're spotted when you're meant to be hiding, you're deported back to the start.

Review: MotorStorm: Pacific Rift for PlayStation 3 50°
October 18, 2008 // 6:15 pm - Evolution Studios has returned to the dirt and mud with MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, but this time the studio also brings fire, water and foliage in tow.

The game improves on most all of the major issues that I had with the first title, and proves that the MotorStorm franchise is no one trick pony.

The first game relied heavily on its dirt and mud deformation technology. As vehicles cut through the mud, it would leave tracks in the soil that other competitors would have to deal with, and this hook worked pretty well. Whereas the first title was situated out in the desert,...

PlayStation Official Magazine UK Review LittleBigPlanet at 10/10! 50°
September 30, 2008 // 7:38 pm - Gnosis of VGChartz (linked above) reports that Dark_Overlord of the N4G Forums picked up a copy of the PlayStation Official Magazine UK and noticed they had reviewed LittleBigPlanet.

Needless to say, it scored a 10/10 (the first of many) and they couldn't give it enough praise.

The magazine stated that it empowers you in a way that was previously confined to the PC modding scene and actual game developers. They concluded that you would have to have a 'sack for brains'...

First PES 2009 Review in Spain, Translated to English! 250°
September 19, 2008 // 8:10 pm - It appears that the first PES 2009 review has surfaced from Spanish publication Hobby Consolas. PES fan Web site (linked above) has translated the review, and while it is a distinct improvement from PES 2008, there are a number of parts of the review that stick out like a sore thumb.

Firstly, the game is stuck on last year's disappointing engine and secondly the magazine admits the game hasn't found the 'sweet spot' on new consoles.

However, this hasn't stopped them awarding the game a score of 92%, but last year a number of Web sites also gave...
