Nyko Zero Wireless controller CES 2008 demonstration 50°
January 9, 2008 // 4:15 pm - Nyko have been showing off what they say is a high end alternative to the PS3 controller.

According to the demo its more accurate and is complete with rumble and motion sensing. Its coming to North America at the end of January to early February.

Intel points the way toward wireless HD standard 50°
January 3, 2008 // 5:00 pm - In the run up to CES 2008 in Las Vegas, Intel, LG Electronics, Matsushita Electric, NEC, Samsung, Sibeam, Sony and Toshiba have announced the completion of a joint wireless specification for high-definition baseband video transmission, known as WirelessHD.

WirelessHD is a wireless high definition digital interface standard operating in the unlicensed and globally available 60GHz frequency band for consumer applications. It is expected to be used for televisions, HD disc players, set-top boxes and gaming consoles.

Google sets sights on US airwaves 50°
December 1, 2007 // 4:44 am - Google has announced it is in the running for a slice of the US airwaves that would allow it to launch a nationwide wireless internet network.

Part of the spectrum, called the C Block, is being sold by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in an auction starting at $4.6bn (£2.2bn).

The planned transition to digital TV services in the US has freed up the wireless capacity.

The C Block radio waves will be free from early 2009.

Google hopes that the new network capacity will allow it to compete directly with existing mobile communications...

Intel backs wireless Africa plan 50°
October 31, 2007 // 3:08 pm - Africa needs to embrace wireless broadband as a potential solution to the digital divide, the chairman of Intel Craig Barrett has said.

"It's cheaper, easier and more efficient to communicate wirelessly," he told the BBC News website.

Less than 1% of Africans have access to broadband and only 4% use the net.

The International Telecommunications Union has predicted that the Intel-backed Wimax system could become the dominant mobile standard in Africa.

The continent's geography and political barriers have made it difficult to roll out wired broadband.
