WipEout Pulse and Daxter announced on PS2 100°
May 7, 2008 // 6:18 pm - Finally the rumors were true... At HardGame2, one of the most influential Spanish (and European) Web sites on videogames, the [roughly translated] announcement comes as follows:

"As happened with Syphon Filter or Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Sony Computer Entertainment will release on PlayStation 2 Daxter and Wipeout Pulse, following their recent passage through PlayStation Portable.

The first would see the day on July 25 next year, while the racing game that plays with the seriousness happen on September 3 this year."

LittleBigPlanet - Killzone 2 characters video out! 50°
May 7, 2008 // 2:50 pm - A new trailer was shown at the Sony gamers day in London. And to show off the versatility of the games character design it featured the characters from Killzone.

Chances are you will be able to get this and many more custom costumes.

There may even be a development tool for users to create custom costumes beyond the ones provided in-game.

GTA IV Multiplayer patch for PS3 due out today! 50°
May 7, 2008 // 2:20 pm - Rockstar and Sony plans to patch the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV today to improve the multiplayer experience.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a Sony source explained that the patch would help by "reducing the loads on the servers at GameSpy and hopefully the completely random hangs that some users have seen".

PS3 owners who bought GTA IV last week have had to endure problems connecting to the multiplayer service almost from day one.

What's more, some reported random crashes, for which Rockstar suggested that erasing game data and reinstalling as a possible solution.

Another Four Game Publishers pull out of E3 2008 50°
May 2, 2008 // 4:36 pm - Today another 4 game publishers have pulled out of this year's E3 conference, adding to Activision and Vivendi who have also discontinued their membership with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).

So far those who have confirmed that they will not be attending include Codemasters, NCSoft, Her Entertainment, id Software, Vivendi, and Activision.

Several industry sources say the drop outs are down to ESA's latest president Mike Gallagher. Analyst Michael Pachter agrees with this theory and says that Gallagher is "far less knowledgeable and sophisticated"...

Latest word on the Burnout Paradise Cagney update! 50°
May 1, 2008 // 1:23 am - In Cagney we've changed how the cars are grouped for Ranked Racing. Previously, cars were grouped by their License Grade. In future we're categorising them according to their Boost Group where cars are grouped according to their top speed.

In races, the choice of a Boost Group will make available all cars in that group plus any cars in lower groups. This has proven to work really well as we have had some really mixed grids and close races with no single car having a clear advantage.

If you haven't unlocked a car in a particular Boost Group then we'll loan you a car for...

PSP Music PRX Plug-In for 3.90 M33 Custom Firmware out! 50°
April 30, 2008 // 8:34 pm - Cpasjuste has released an update to Music PRX, a Custom Firmware plug-in originally written by Joek that allows users to playback music files when playing a UMD game, running a homebrew application, and even while browsing the XMB.

As the article title implies, the update brings complete support for 3.90 M33 series Firmware to the table. No other significant changes were made in this release.

NeoDS v0.1.0: Neo-Geo Emulator for Nintendo DS out! 50°
April 30, 2008 // 1:32 pm - Ben Ingram has released NeoDS, a Neo-Geo AES/MVS emulator for the Nintendo DS. Although certain hardware features such as FM audio and raster effects are not fully emulated as of yet, compatibility is quite good and most titles have been reported to run at a playable speed with minimal to no slowdown.

Note that a DLDI compatible flash card is required. Additional installation and usage instructions can be found in the included readme file.

Grand Theft UPS: Copies of GTA stolen en route to retailers 50°
April 28, 2008 // 1:01 pm - According to a UPS employee, 3 members of staff were fired over the weekend for stealing GTA IV from shipment boxes and that more employees are set to be fired today for the same reason.

The source says they believe they are stealing the staff stole the copies for their own personal use.

To quote: "When we have a [big name release], we communicate it to operations and security teams. We have security in place at the facilities, and we make sure they understand to keep an eye out for things to exit the building," he explained.
