185w ago - Today Sony has announced that they are bringing 99-cent movie and TV rentals to the PlayStation Store.

Sony has announced that the $0.99 movie and television rental program will become a permanent part of PlayStation Network. Every Tuesday, a selection of movie and TV rentals will see a week-long discount to $0.99 for SD versions and $1.99 for HD versions.

August 16, 2011 - Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) and Sony Network Entertainment (SNEI) today announced that its 99 movie rental program is coming back to the PlayStation Store in both the United States and Canada.

Beginning today, PlayStation Network users can rent a selection of movies and TV shows for 99 (SD) and $1.99 (HD) through the video section of the PlayStation Store.

The storefronts will refresh the content available with new titles every Tuesday, and the movies discounted the previous week will return to their original price.

185w ago - Not to be confused with the upcoming PS Vita, today SCEE's James Gallagher has announced news at Gamescom of a new PSP E-1000 handheld console.

To quote: While most attendees to the SCEE press conference at Gamescom will have anticipated some announcements around PlayStation Vita, our upcoming next generation portable, few would have predicted the unveil of the brand new PSP E-1000.

Value for money is the goal with this new model that will retail at just €99.99 (RRP), accompanied by an exciting range of PSP Essentials titles that will retail at only €9.99 (RRP) and will include Invizimals: The Lost Tribe, EyePet Adventures, FIFA 12 and many more.

While PSP E-1000 does not include Wi-Fi, it will still provides access to the full catalogue of PSP games either on UMD or from PlayStation Store via Media Go. The design is also slightly different, with a Charcoal Black finish - the same as on the slimmer PS3 model - to give more of a matte feel.

186w ago - Today Sony Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media Patrick Seybold has announced news of PlayStation Network scheduled maintenance tomorrow- Thursday, August 11, 2011.

To quote: PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo routine maintenance tomorrow, August 11th, from about 8am until approximately 7pm Pacific Time.

During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process.

While some users may experience difficulty signing into PSN and the PlayStation Store, the majority of users will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).

Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.

186w ago - Today Sony's Digital Distribution Manager Pierre Gravereau has announced that PlayStation Network PLAY pre-orders begin today.

To quote: As you may remember from my post last week, our PlayStation Network PLAY program is bringing four of the hottest action games straight to you, with lots of added bonuses.

This new annual program is packed with special DLC offers with each purchase of the four featured titles during the PLAY promotion, along with bonus themes for each pre-order.

We're excited to announce that pre-orders for PLAY titles begin today for all four games: Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, The Baconing, Bloodrayne: Betrayal and Renegade Ops.

Pre-orders begin today, so make sure to nab your copies soon. 187w ago - Sony Digital Distribution Manager Pierre Gravereau has announced news today of a new annual PSN event called PLAY, which will deliver action games with special bonuses to participants.

To quote: We're excited to introduce a new PlayStation Network event: PLAY. PLAY is a brand-new annual program, where we're bringing you four of the season's hottest PlayStation Network action titles.

With every purchase of a PLAY title in the PlayStation Store throughout the duration of the program, you'll receive a separate piece of DLC for each game, plus a new theme with every pre-order.

If these incentives aren't enough, if you're 18 years or older and purchase all four PLAY titles in the PlayStation Store, you'll get a voucher code for PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift. And, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get an automatic 20% off every purchase.

Pre-orders will be available for all four PLAY titles starting next week on August 9 in the PlayStation Store. Remember, in order to qualify to receive PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift, your purchases must be made by September 19, 2011.
