PS3 LV2_Kernel Exploit Sample Implementation By Naehrwert

PS3 LV2_Kernel Exploit Sample Implementation By Naehrwert 1350°
128w ago - Following up on his PS3 SCETool update and PS3 Dump_Rootkey code, today Sony PlayStation 3 hacker Naehrwert has posted some details on exploiting the PlayStation 3 lv2_kernel and has made available a sample 3.41 implementation below.

To quote from his blog: Exploiting (?) lv2

A long while ago KaKaRoTo pointed me to a stack overflow he found while reversing lv2_kernel. But there are two problems:

1. The vulnerability is in a protected syscall (the SELF calling it got to have the 0x40... control flags set). So you’d first need to find a suitable usermode exploit (don’t ask us), that gives you code execution with the right privileges.

2. The payload data is copied to lv2 heap first and the function will do a free call on it before the payload has any chance to get executed. This might not sound like a problem but it looks like lv2′s heap implementation will overwrite the free’ed space with 0xABADCAFE and thus destroy the payload.

Here (pastie.org/4755699) is my sample implementation for 3.41 lv2_kernel...

Video: TGS 2012: Watch The New Puppeteer PlayStation 3 Trailer

Video: TGS 2012: Watch The New Puppeteer PlayStation 3 Trailer 50°
128w ago - SCE Worldwide Studios Art Director Gavin Moore has shared a new Puppeteer PlayStation 3 trailer from Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2012 today!

To quote: Hi guys, back again to give you an update on Puppeteer.

First off, please let me thank you all for your wonderful, supportive comments after our announcement at Gamescom last month. It's dedicated PlayStation fans like you that make the incredible amount of hard work that goes into making games worthwhile.

You never know what reaction you will get from your work, and it seems that Puppeteer has hit the right nerve with gamers. So, when I got back from Germany, I started getting ready for Tokyo Game Show.

We aren't showing a playable demo on the show floor, but I have put together another trailer for the show. This one is longer and shows a little bit more of the story, without giving too much away and ruining it for you all. Have a look up above.

We are currently casting in London for the voice actors, so I apologize for the voices in the trailer. It's a little embarrassing because all of the voices are done by me, apart from the narrator.

Actually, I am thinking of doing the Witch's voice...

PlayStation All-Stars on PS Vita Puts The Fight in Your Pocket

PlayStation All-Stars on PS Vita Puts The Fight in Your Pocket 200°
128w ago - Bluepoint Games Senior Producer Daryl Allison has announced today that PlayStation All-Stars on PS Vita puts the fight in gamer's pockets!

To quote: Hello PlayStation fans! My name is Daryl Allison, Sr. Producer at Bluepoint Games, developers of the PlayStation Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Since Sony's announcement at Gamescom of their awesome promotion pricing program for PlayStation All-Stars - where gamers who purchase the PlayStation 3 version also get to download the PS Vita version at no additional cost - it has been great to see gamers getting excited for the PS Vita version, so it's time Bluepoint gets into the blogging ring.

As fans of Bluepoint know, the studio has worked hard over the years to give gamers the highest quality remasters for classic titles God of War, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid. Now, for PlayStation All-Stars, we've taken our passion to the next level. Our mission: To create the full PS3 experience of PlayStation All-Stars on PS Vita.

By that, we don't mean a game with similar features carrying the same name. PlayStation All-Stars is about showcasing the possibility of true Cross-Play between PS3 and PS Vita. The feature richness of the PS3 version's arcade mode, online modes, player progression...
