Itagaki Says PS3 Easier to Develop for Than Famicom 50°
August 27, 2008 // 8:22 pm - Curious what ex-Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki has been up to since leaving Tecmo back in June? Our own James Mielke journeyed all the way to Tokyo to score this exclusive post-Tecmo interview with the father of Ninja Gaiden, and boy is it a doozy.

Always quick with plenty to say that can stir things up, this beefy chat with the admittedly drunk Itagaki is overflowing with gems. For example, Itagaki likens the decline of Japanese game development -- and most other things -- to aerial dogfights:

"For instance, look back to World War II. You had aerial dogfight...

PS3 Downloading Speed Much Faster Than 360 500°
August 20, 2008 // 3:58 am - As you may know, I own both the 360 and PS3 systems and I was testing out which download was faster just to let people know about this.

So as I was downloading Wall-E on the 360, it took me 1 hour and a half, and when I tried to download it on the PS3 it took no less then 45 minutes.

So we all know now that downloading games on the PS3 is faster than downloading them on the 360. So now is the time for Microsoft to concentrate on the download speed for their next dashboard update!

The reason I did this comparison was because I just wanted to know if it was...

Five Reasons Why Achievements are Better than Trophies 50°
July 6, 2008 // 7:40 pm - With the launch of PS3 Firmware update 2.40 on July 2, Sony has officially launched their own gamer reward system to compete with Microsoft's well entrenched Achievement system. Microsoft was the first the out of the gate, and has had two and a half years to refine and improve their product.

With this experience under their belt, is Microsoft's Achievement offering better than their rival's Trophy system? Or has the extra time allowed Sony to develop a superior reward system?

Xbox Achievements - A Brief Description:

Since the launch of Xbox 360, Microsoft...

Call of Duty 4: Larger burden on Sony PS3 than Xbox 360 50°
July 6, 2008 // 2:09 am - Games like Call of Duty 4 run at a framerate of 60 frames per second on both systems. But Call of Duty 4 is a game that experienced technical problems with various bottlenecks due to the varying levels of action that occur on the screen. The game was originally designed to run at 60 frames per second at 720p, but it caused drops in the framerate.

The proof of this is the fact that Call of Duty 4 runs at a resolution of only 640p on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This may be "equal" in terms of what is displayed on the screen, but the FACT is that Call of Duty 4 is putting...

June 4, 2008 // 2:33 pm - When Tomonobu Itagaki dropped a bombshell late last night telling us through a translator that he was not only leaving Team Ninja but suing his former employer, it was pretty stunning.

Temco later declined to comment saying that they were aware of his statement but unwilling to say more. Now Microsoft is chiming in, responding to our request for comment, thanking Itagaki for his years of Xbox support.

To quote: Tomonobu Itagaki has decided to leave TECMO and Team NINJA to pursue other opportunities. We thank Tomonobu Itagaki for the many years he has supported Xbox...
