38w ago - Giant Squid Creative Director Matt Nava announced today that ABZU, their first project, is coming to PlayStation 4.

To quote: We are very excited to give you an early glimpse of ABZU, Giant Squid's first project, coming to PS4. ABZU will take players on an epic adventure into the depths of the ocean, where they will encounter majestic creatures and discover long lost secrets.

The game draws inspiration from a deep, innate story that we all carry in our collective subconscious, a universal origin myth that resonates across cultures. As such, the name ABZU references a concept from the oldest Mesopotamian mythology: it is the combination of two ancient words Ab, meaning ocean, and Zu, meaning to know. Essentially, ABZU is the ocean of wisdom.




ABZU is being made by Giant Squid, a newly formed game studio intent on making creative and artistic interactive experiences. I started Giant Squid after working as the art director at thatgamecompany on two very fun projects, Flower and Journey.

38w ago - Today nDreams CEO Patrick O'Luanaigh announced that The Assembly for PS4 and Project Morpheus is coming to PlayStation 4 with a video trailer below.

To quote: Hi! We're announcing our first major VR game today for PS4 with full support for the fantastic Project Morpheus VR headset.

You probably haven't heard of our studio (nDreams) before unless you use PlayStation Home, but we're a fast-growing team of around 28 based in Farnborough in the UK, and we've been developing and publishing for around seven years. The Assembly is a mysterious VR adventure game that we have designed for VR from day one.

We were fortunate enough to start using VR headsets in the middle of 2013. Since then we've been experimenting, prototyping and trying all sorts of unusual ideas out. The Assembly includes lots of the gameplay mechanics that we found worked well in VR.




For example, you get to control two different characters at various points, and in VR, you really notice details like their different heights, sounds and voices. Rather than playing as a silent character, we found that playing the role of characters in the story works really well, and helps make The Assembly feel quite different to most other VR projects.

39w ago - Cleaversoft Lead Developer Rich Siegel announced today that EarthNight is coming to PS4 and PS Vita consoles with a trailer video below dubbed The Dragon Apocalypse Approaches.

I'm so happy and proud to announce today that EarthNight will launch first on PS4, and shortly after on PS Vita in 2015. We will be showing off our first PS4 demo next week at E3 in Sony's booth, and we can't wait for people to get their hands on it.

EarthNight is a hand-painted roguelike runner about the dragon apocalypse. Dragons have taken over the Earth and exiled the decimated human population to outer space.

Our outraged heroes Stanley and Sydney decide to skydive to the planet's surface, taking out as many dragons as they can on their way. In terms of gameplay, Stanley is a good pick for beginners given his simpler control scheme. Sydney is for experts, with a less intuitive - but ultimately more rewarding - control scheme.




The game alternates between running on the backs of dragons and skydiving through a sea of the vile beasts. The running sections are frantic,...

Whoever used to debug on PlayStation 3 knows that there is only one debugger available - SN Systems ProDG. It has some nice features (that I even miss in others debuggers) but overall... its not that good.

There also was a gdb client but it was pulled around 1.xx sdk (specification changed, there is no more step cmd, etc). So after some time that I spent with ProDG I realized that it just dont works for me and decided to get host debugger to communicate with Ida. It would have allowed me to use all those nice features like scripts, plugins, tracing, leaving comments in place, interface and hotkeys to which I am used to over the years.

Okay, I hear that someone of you is asking why I did Ida module and not some kind of gdb proxy instead, and...
