Video: Silent Hill: Book of Memories for PlayStation Vita

300°
125w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared some fresh video footage today of Silent Hill: Book of Memories for the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: I've got a gaming confession to make: I've never played a Silent Hill game. Never really had much of an interest in the series, even... until now.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories is a Survival Horror Action-RPG coming to PS Vita later this month. Like chocolate and peanut butter, this is a mashup I can get into. After sampling the game at PAX Prime, I met up with the game's producer, Tomm Hewlett, in San Francisco to find out how Konami plans to please fans of both genres.

Jeff Rubenstein, PlayStation.Blog Social Media Manager: How do you adapt an incredibly scary survival horror series into this action/RPG format? Why did you choose this genre?

Tomm Hewlett, Game Producer: We heard about PS Vita, and we really wanted to make a Silent Hill that was specially suited for that. We really wanted to experiment with multiplayer.

Survival horror is a very particular genre, but with PS Vita's online capabilities, it just made sense to do multiplayer here. So we started to experiment with different gameplay styles, what was kind of compelling, and through a long random assortment...

Sony European PSN Game Store Updates for October 3, 2012

100°
125w ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PlayStation Store Team is here with the European PSN game and video updates today, as follows:

October begins and with it that no doubt means the beginning of a busy period in gaming for us all.

To set things in motion, Capcom's Resident Evil 6 headlines this week's ensemble. Return to the series for a new viral outbreak with Leon, Chris and new guy Jake Muller.

If infected people aren't your thing then maybe some intense fighting in Dead or Alive 5 will do the trick. With a returning cast of fan favourites joined by new faces Rig and Mila, have fun smashing your opponent off a snowy cliff or into a leaping tiger. Fun!

Also releasing today, and included for PS Plus subscribers is Sega's Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. If the title hasn't piqued your interest then how about the story - you are Ash, a devil rabbit who's private photos have been leaked causing you to get angry. Very angry!

Other titles releasing this week include PSOne Import Tomba!, along with more Sega goodness - Nights intro Dreams now for PS3.

Enjoy this week's update. Check back next week for more.

Video: Until Dawn PS3 Q&A: Teen Horror Goes SuperMassive

50°
125w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has posted up a video and Q&A today on the Until Dawn PS3 teen horror game from SuperMassive below.

To quote: Last month's debut of PlayStation Move-based horror game Until Dawn generated enough intrigue to propel the game onto at least one news site's best of gamescom list.

And after watching a 30-minute gameplay demonstration of this cheeky horror game at gamescom, it wasn't hard to see why.

The game oozes confidence and style: its immersive use of the PlayStation Move motion controller (from flipping levers to tugging zippers), rapid-fire banter, and unabashed reliance on genre tropes all point to a game that's determined to push horror gaming into uncharted territory.

It's important to note that Until Dawn is firmly a teen horror game, trading in the healing herbs and bullet counting of the survival-horror genre for quips, jump scares, and salacious scenarios that wouldn't seem out of place in Friday the 13th or I Know What You Did Last Summer.

After Until Dawn's gamescom debut, I had a chance to speak with SuperMassive's executive creative director Will Byles, who discussed the game's genesis, HUD-free presentation,...
