Sony: Full PlayStation 2 Support Will Continue in 2010

Sony: Full PlayStation 2 Support Will Continue in 2010 200°
272w ago - For those who don't yet own a PS3, it's nice to know that Sony intends to continue fully supporting the PS2 console in 2010.

Sony is seeking to emphasize that the PlayStation 2 has an extensive game library in comparison to the Nintendo Wii.

Speaking to GamePro.com (linked above) in a recent interview, Sony's Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller has stated the following, to quote:

"Yes, we have a very firm stance, and we're going to continue to support the PlayStation 2 wholeheartedly. The PS2 obviously had a price drop this year, which gets forgotten because of the PS3 noise, but it's still selling exceedingly well.

It's a new demographic, a consumer that's maybe a "last gamer" or a consumer that's new to gaming. With this economy, coming in at $99, a lot of these consumers are choosing between a PlayStation 2 and a Wii, and you're looking at a PS2, which is $99 and carries 2000 games."

Video: Sodium One Intro: The Next Evolution of PlayStation Home 50°
272w ago - Today PlayStation Home Community Manager CydoniaX has introduced Sodium One, which sounds more like a new diet soft drink but apparently it's the next evolution of PS Home.

To quote: Today marks the next evolutionary step of the PlayStation Home platform, as we release a massive 50 level vehicle combat game wrapped inside a highly-interactive and expansive social gaming environment known as Sodium One- a truly revolutionary gaming experience developed by Outso Ltd. and published by Lockwood Publishing Ltd.

This entertainment event, set in a future of advanced technology where man and machine meet on a vast salt plain to turn deadly battle into extreme sport, resides only in the ever-growing world of PlayStation Home. And come opening day, you will want to be the first person in. That is, of course, if you want to be the last person standing.

A new benchmark for social gaming in PlayStation Home, Sodium One will launch with an explosive game known as Salt Shooter - a 50 level combat challenge where players can collect items to level up gameplay and strategically customize hovertanks with weapons, armor, and countermeasures.

European PlayStation Store Update for December 17, 2009

European PlayStation Store Update for December 17, 2009 50°
272w ago - Today Mike Kebby of the SCEE PlayStation Store Team has posted this week's European PSN update, as follows:

Good morning - the store will be updated nice and early today, so I'm still a little bleary eyed.

Our batch of special offers for the festive period begins today, but we'll also be adding a few more titles next week too. From today though, you'll be able to grab games such as Burn Zombie Burn!, Bomberman Ultra and Battlefield 1943 at lower prices.

Also following the firmware update last week, minis now join the fun on PS3, so you can now enjoy the majority of our minis on both formats.

Next week we're updating the store on Tuesday the 22nd of December, and then that's it for the holidays - normal service will resume from Thursday the 7th of January.

Finally, as a personal Christmas gift to some of you lucky, lucky readers, I have some codes I'll be giving out over the next week - there is no competition to enter - all I'll be doing is scouring your comments and giving codes out to those who have left constructive / commendable feedback (think of this as a 'letter of the week' type deal, except it's more 'comments of the week'). These codes will be sent from my store management PSN account and will give you your code directly,...
