Analyst: Triple-A Titles Should Maintain US $59 Price Point 50°

Should we expect games to become cheaper then? Yes. And no. Not for AAA titles at least, according to analysts.

The issue came up when some high-profile games got price cuts, like Mirror's Edge, Guitar Hero, and Prince of Persia. It got some industry watchers worrying that new releases will be priced lower.

Analyst Todd Greenwald of Signal Hill thinks that won't happen though, saying that US$ 59 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360...

Sony to Advance as PS3 Makes Money, 2009 is Year of Big Titles 200°
January 6, 2009 // 10:53 pm - SCEE president David Reeves indicated on an article on the UK PlayStation site (linked above) that the PS3 should start making money soon, and move forward quickly with the system.

Additionally, the president of SCEE worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida commented that 2009 will be the year of big, exclusive PS3 titles, and for PSP new titles and innovations will connect and expand the PlayStation experiences.

To quote: The most important thing for us as a company in the very short term is for us to start making money. This is a pledge that was made last March...

Over $60M Spent on Blu-ray Disc Titles Last Week 100°
December 20, 2008 // 9:06 pm - According to Home Media Magazine, consumers spent over $60M on Blu-ray titles last week, representing 14% of the home media market.

The 167% spike is due in large part to the Blu-ray release of 'The Dark Knight', which is breaking Blu-ray sales records around the world.

Comparatively, the previous week, where 'Wanted' was the hot new release, consumers spent $23.64M on Blu-ray.

On the year in whole, consumers have spent nearly $500M on Blu-ray titles, and the average spent per week has been growing as adoption...

Sony Interested in Offering Downloadable PS2 Titles on PS3 50°
December 10, 2008 // 1:51 am - Just under a week ago this rumor surfaced, and today Sony Computer Entertainment of America's senior marketing manager John Kohler stated that the company is indeed interested in providing downloadable PlayStation 2 titles on the PlayStation 3 console.

Best Buy to Price Cut PlayStation 3 And XBox 360 Titles Sunday 50°
December 7, 2008 // 5:25 am - Best Buy Co. Inc. stores will price cut select game titles for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 in a new week-long video game sale.

Beginning Dec. 7, Konami Corp.'s Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) will be discounted to $39.99, $10 off the MSRP. Additionally, Dangerous Hunts 2009 (PS3) will be sold at $$29.99, $10 off the MSRP, and The Simpsons Game (PS3) at $9.99 after a $10 savings.

Discounted Xbox 360 titles include Tom Clancy's EndWar at $39.99, Civil War at $29.99, Legendary at $39.99, and Far Cry 2 at $39.99.

Sony Confirms 32 Additional PSP Titles for Ad-Hoc Party Support 50°

Most games seem to be working with no problem, but there a quite a few that are suffering from issues such as slowdown when using voice chat.
