To quote: Multiple sources have indicated to Gamasutra that there is a minimum amount of sales, on a per-territory basis, that WiiWare developers must reach in order to recoup any money at all for their games.

It is believed that this sales number is set in the mid-four figure range for North America, and lower four figures for individual European territories. Until a WiiWare title sells over...

March 29, 2009 // 1:22 pm - Worldwide sales of the Nintendo Wii games console have topped 50 million, the company's president Satoru Iwata stated at an industry conference in San Francisco.

This means the Wii is now the fastest-selling games console in history, surpassing Sony's PlayStation 2.

February 10, 2009 // 7:28 am - It is no secret that the consumers of gaming have been consumed, for lack of better words by numbers and sales in this generation of consoles.

February 9, 2009 // 7:15 am - Has the Wii's bubble finally burst? Sales figures from Japanese retailers show the Wii is the only console to show negative growth over the last week.

While it is far too soon to start shouting the demise of the Wii from the rooftops, Nintendo saw unit sales of its home console fall by 3,000 units, allowing the PlayStation 3 to close the sales gap between the two consoles from 12,000 units two weeks ago, to just under 6,000 units this week.

The Wii is showing the least resilience of all systems in the current slump in the Japanese hardware market, seeing sales slump 96,000...

Sony PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 Worldwide Sales Equal in 2008 100°
January 29, 2009 // 9:29 am - Sony's PlayStation 3 sold less in the third quarter of 2008 (ie. the Oct-Dec holiday season) than in 2007, but the strength of the console's earlier sales did it proud, shipping 10.77 million in 2008 (up from 2007's 8.85 million).

In contrast, Microsoft's Xbox 360 had a huge holiday season, shipping around 6 million consoles worldwide (a record for the Xbox), but had a weaker sales period earlier in the year: the playing field has been levelled.
