Activision Threatens to Drop PS3 if Sony Doesn't Cut the Price 350°
June 19, 2009 // 11:03 pm - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has threatened that the company may drop support for the PS3 console in 2010 and 2011 if things don't pick up for Sony's platform.

Apparently he wants a price cut now because the attach rate of games is very low.

Sony: E3 is Not the Right Place to Announce a PS3 Price Cut 100°
June 6, 2009 // 9:57 pm - With E3 2009 being over, some are left wondering why Sony didn't announce a PS3 price cut as speculated through this year's conference.

Sony answered during a recent interview with Kotaku, as follows:

Despite expectations that Sony would lower the price of the PS3 at E3, the company announced no price drop at the big show. We asked why.

"From our perspective, this show is all about content," Sony's head of PlayStation marketing in the U.S., Peter Dille, told Kotaku in an interview yesterday. "We believe that our content story is unrivaled.

Sony is Cutting Down on the Number of Parts Suppliers 100°
May 25, 2009 // 10:26 pm - After 14 years of profits, Sony recently posted its first annual net loss for the fiscal year ended March.

As part of its plans to turn things around, the company has announced that it will cut the number of its parts suppliers by half in order to slash costs.

The Associated Press (linked above) reports that Sony plans to reduce number of its parts makers from about 2,500 now to about 1,200 next year.

GameStop CEO Expecting PS3 and Wii Price Cuts in Q3 2009 350°
May 22, 2009 // 10:40 pm - The CEO of GameStop Dan DeMatteo is expecting price cuts for both Sony's PS3 and the Nintendo Wii.

Rumor: Inside Source Claims PS3 & PSP Price Cut in Early June 400°
April 24, 2009 // 8:21 pm - According to an internal 'proven' source of French Web site PS3Gen.fr, it's been unofficially confirmed that both the PS3 and PSP will receive price drops in early June.

This would obviously correspond with E3, which is scheduled to run between June 2 and June 4.
