During GDC last week, our friends at Namco Bandai invited us to chat with Keita Takahashi, Noby Noby Boy and Katamari series creator, and you should know him well by now.

Of course, I jumped at the chance to talk to Mr. Takahashi, as his always-entertaining posts have made me quite a fan.

It's a really cool interview, as he gives insight in to the influences behind Noby Noy Boy, how the multiplayer works, and even dishes about working on a music game! Enjoy.

315w ago - Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Nintendo character Kirby and designer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, is creating a new title for Nintendo the company announced today.

To quote: On January 22 of this year, Sakurai's company Sora Ltd., a first party Nintendo developer, created a new company with Nintendo called Project Sora. Sakurai is serving as director for this new project.

Nintendo is the principal investor, owning up to 72 percent of the company.

About this project the new company is working on, Satoru Iwata assured that it's not another Smash Bros. game, saying, "It's not Smash Bros. I asked for." Sakurai added, "I can promise an experience that's different from anything [you've played] up until now."

Project Sora currently has 30 employees and is currently looking for "talented individuals."

322w ago - Just as we fell behind on the PS3 Media Server updates over the holidays, we also received word today that A.R.K.'s PS3 Theme Creator 2.0 is now available.

It was released last week, and offers PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.5 Icon and Sound Support among other changes detailed below.

Download: PS3 Theme Creator 2.0 / Sample 2.5 PS3 Theme (with Sound) / .NET 2.0 (Required)

Changelog:

1. Support for FW2.5 icons.
2. Support for sounds.
3. Includes tool to convert audio file to vag format.
4. Drag and Drop images directly to the icons and backgrounds.
5. New preview mode.
6. Notification of missing icons on screen.
7. Double clicking on p3t files will launch them directly in PS3ThemeCreator.
8. Bug fixes.

339w ago - The September issue of EGM brought our editors face-to-face with some of Japan's most celebrated game developers, including PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya. Previously responsible for Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami, the former Capcom designer talked at length about his upcoming action game Bayonetta -- as well as his feelings about his competition. You might recall our other big interview with former Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki, where the Ninja Gaiden creator unceremoniously rocked a Ninpo on Okami. In case you were wondering, here's why:

"I've never played Ninja Gaiden, and to be honest, I'm not that interested.

"The quality that gets you interested in something is that you feel something for them. Like on TV, or a movie, or a song, or whatever. You just feel something, and you get pulled into it, and then that's how you pick something up. But Ninja Gaiden just didn't have that power, so that's why I wasn't interested in it.

Kamiya also explained his opinion that the industry has failed to exceed the groundwork he laid with original Devil May Cry, complaining, "I don't know why the baton was dropped, but it is very true that I don't feel...
