PixelJunk Shooter PS3 Details & E3 2009 Trailer Video Available

100°
299w ago - Q-Games Ltd. President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has unveiled some new PixelJunk Shooter PS3 details and an E3 2009 trailer video today, as follows:

In true PixelJunk fashion we have made the game co-op, so get a friend around, grab an extra controller and anyone can just dive right on in.

We've tried to make co-op as de-stressed as possible, so even if your player's ship gets hit by something or overheats and starts crashing towards the ground, you can pop out your extendible hook thing (no official name for this yet - "Grabber" perhaps?) and grab your friend (he's a bit heavy tho, so watch out), then you can carry him to the nearest pool of water and dunk him in to restore his health. If you don't manage to grab him in time, he'll just re-spawn near you and you'll be docked a life.

The game is an old-school shooter at heart (hence the name), it is the PixelJunk take on those old retro shooting games such as Defender, with a little bit of Choplifter and Thrust! thrown in for good measure. We have giant bosses for you to fight against, multiple weapons to pick up and try out, shields you can grab, all kinds of stuff to give people with an itchy trigger finger a lot of fun.

However, at the same time...

WipEout HD Fury PS3 Expansion Pack Details Unveiled

50°
300w ago - Today SCEA Producer Daimion Pinnock has announced WipEout HD Fury Expansion Pack PS3 Details, as follows:

The WipEout HD Fury expansion pack will increase the content of your current game with 8 new tracks, 13 new ship models and 3 new game modes, 2 of which will be available for online play! In addition there will be new trophies to attain, a re-styled front-end and a selection of new & improved multiplayer functionality!

The Eliminator game mode will allow you to release all that pent-up aggression as you use the full arsenal of Wipeout weaponry to destroy your opponents. Forget those racing lines; this is all about destruction, with the victor being the first to reach the target score!

Zone Battle is about risk and reward! Acceleration is automatic as you swoop over zone pads to fill your zone bar. Your choice is whether to use the bar to increase your speed and boost your ship ever closer to the target zone or absorb it to replenish vital lost energy. Warning, avoid the 'zone barriers', obstacles left on the track by your opponents as they boost towards the target zone, hitting these can literally destroy your hopes of victory!

Our Detonator mode introduces a brand new ship model to the game that will test both your piloting...

New God of War 3 Combat and Boss PS3 Details Available

50°
300w ago - The July issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine (PTOM) features God of War 3 on its cover, and inside includes the first new info on the game since Sony unveiled it back in February.

Kicking things off, lead combat designer Adam Puhl goes into detail on the game's Spider-Man-style grappling ability, which essentially takes the grapple points from God of War 2 and places them on the game's enemies.

"At any point, if there's an enemy on the ground, in the air, wherever, Kratos can throw his blades at them, pull himself into that enemy [or pull the enemy over, or toss the enemy left or right], and perform a shoulder ram," he says.

"When it hits, the game slows down, so you get this impactful attack, and you can continue to combo after that... the combat grapple is a linker for the entire combat system."

While the article doesn't reveal any new weapons, it confirms there will be four "main" ones in the finished game, so that leaves two (in addition to the blades and the Cestus) that have yet to be revealed. Apparently each weapon will be tied to its own magic attacks, and one of the Cestus' magics sees Kratos "pound the ground to send a massive wave of destruction in front of him," according to PTOM 's Teresa Dun. Puhl notes that magic attacks "will have more gameplay...

PSP Go Details Revealed in June 2009 Issue of Qore

550°
300w ago - Update: Complete specs and videos from the June issue of Qore are available on YouTube, but the latter one appears to have been removed.

In the video, Qore host Veronica Belmont discusses the new PSP Go handheld with Sony's John Koller who mentions the handheld (which features 16GB of internal storage, a memory slot for expandable memory and bluetooth) will not replace the current PSP-3000 - they will coexist.

According to Koller, new titles will be revealed for the platform at E3, specifically: a new Metal Gear Solid and Jak & Daxter. Also, expect Sony's E3 briefing to mention Jak & Daxter PSP (announced previously) and Gran Turismo PSP - which has been known since the birth of the platform. Get those bingo cards out, kids!

Images grabbed by the Gaming Console Network confirm PS3's virtual magazine (Qore) made its latest issue available early and revealed the (long-rumored) PSP revision.

As rumors and mockups theorized, the PSP Go in the images features no UMD drive and a sliding screen. It also features a single (and poorly...

Quantum Theory: Details and Scans from Famitsu Magazine

50°
300w ago - Ever since the revealing trailer since October last year, information of Quantum Theory (tentative title) has been kept quiet... until now.

Here is a rough translation of the scans: Quantum Theory is a new action game from Tecmo with over the top battles taken place within a tower which changes it's structures over time.

With the tower shifting (Diabloizes) it's shape over time, it is eroding into the world endangering the people around. Many have tried to invade the tower to stop the erosion, but all have died. Now a man crossing over all the corpses that failed before him, has risen to challenge the tower.

The main character Sid, carrying a machine gun named "Grave Digger", will meet his partner Feleena inside the tower working towards the same goal of stopping the tower. Feleena carries a gun that will turn into a light saber during close combat. Players will need to adapt to the changing environments within the tower and fight accordingly.

Under release info, only a release date of 2010 is given. Categorized under "SF Action" and the genre is "Action/Shooting". It lists that the game will have PlayStation Network support but nothing is said about if it's 1 or multiplayer.

On the 2nd page of the scan it says that Feleena will act on her own, sometimes fighting...
