Video: Far Cry 4 Hands-on for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3

Video: Far Cry 4 Hands-on for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 50°
28w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements shared a video today going hands-on with Far Cry 4 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles below.

To quote: Far Cry 4 explores two tonal opposites: the icy, high-reaching peaks of the Himalayan mountains, and the warm, mythical memories of Shangri-La.

Ubisoft recently showed off both of these environments - which make up just some of the many areas in its upcoming open-world shooter.

In Far Cry 4, players face the despotic Pagan Min and his violent regime in the fictional region of Kyrat. But each player can make a near endless number of choices along the way, and enlist the help of both weapons and the wild to accomplish his or her goals and topple Min's tyranny.

Far Cry 4′s hero Ajay Ghale - a Kyrat native - travels to Kyrat to spread his mother's ashes. But he's soon swept up in the bloody violence that plagues the country and its people. In the demo I played, Ajay makes his way through one of Min's outposts to kill the area's commander.

This first section takes place amidst Himalayan peaks, with flurries of snow and slivers of rock accenting the crests and ridges. The developers at Ubisoft Montreal...

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - The Power of Claptrap Detailed

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - The Power of Claptrap Detailed 50°
29w ago - Gearbox Software Content Editor Andrew Goldfarb shared details today on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - The Power of Claptrap for PlayStation 3 below.

To quote: Since we announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, there's one question we've gotten more than any other: what is Claptrap's action skill? Up until now we haven't said much, but today we're happy to reveal that it's as weird as you might have hoped.

Claptrap's action skill is named VaultHunter.exe, and when he uses it he's granted one of several random abilities for a short time.

If you're lucky and Claptrap's programming is working properly, you might get a brief opportunity to use a version of another Vault Hunter's skill, like becoming a Gunzerker (In Claptrap's case, Funzerking!) or a Mechromancer (You'll love your new fire rate!).

If you're less lucky, you might be stuck bouncing up and down uncontrollably or launching a torrent of grenades that will obliterate friend and foe alike.

Beyond that, depending on the skill tree you choose, Claptrap may also gain the ability to cycle between subroutines that increase his efficiency with different types of guns, health regeneration,...

Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Freedom Wars on PS Vita

Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Freedom Wars on PS Vita 50°
29w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today sharing a PS Vita video showcasing Freedom Wars on PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: PS Vita exclusive Freedom Wars comes courtesy of Japan Studio, Dimps, and Shift, and places you into the unfortunate shoes of a prisoner facing a one million year sentence.

It's not all bad news, though! By battling fearsome Abductors and rescuing citizens, your captors will generously reduce the length of your imprisonment - a few years at a time.

Featuring four-player local co-op (via an ad-hoc wireless connection, with vacant slots filled by computer-controlled companions), Freedom Wars rewards coordinated cooperative play.

One player can use a grappling hook to pull an enemy to the ground, while another dashes in to rescue an innocent trapped within the beast's chest.

While transporting a civilian to safety, you'll rely on the protection of your teammates to keep you and your cargo alive. Alternatively, eight player (4v4) competitive play is an option when playing via the magic of the internet.

I recently went hands-on with Freedom Wars, along with my pals Ken, Kumi and Jake, the results of which you can see at the top...

Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Metrico on PlayStation Vita

Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Metrico on PlayStation Vita 50°
30w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today with Metrico on PlayStation Vita complete with a PS Vita video trailer below.

To quote: Metrico, Digital Dreams' input-morphing, mind-bending puzzle platformer, hits PS Vita tomorrow (for free if you're a PlayStation Plus member).

In it, players will need to think in unexpected ways to overcome obstacles like bar graphs, pie charts, and... wait, what?

Yeah, Metrico's gameplay centers around the world of infographics. Charts manifest and shift as you run and jump - one puzzle even requires the player to throw themselves into a bottomless pit to summon a bar graph, creating a bridge to the next area.

The music in Metrico is worth pointing out. It comes courtesy of Dutch composer Palmbomen, and it delivers some seriously slick atmosphere to this weird, genre-bending game.

Metrico isn't really the easiest thing to describe with words, though. Thus, I humbly present a hands-on video recently recorded in our studio here at PlayStation HQ. Cast your gaze back to the top of this very page and watch me infograph!

Trials Fusion: Riders of the Rustlands DLC on PlayStation 4 Today

Trials Fusion: Riders of the Rustlands DLC on PlayStation 4 Today 50°
31w ago - Community Manager Daniel Nixon announced that Trials Fusion: Riders of the Rustlands PS4 DLC arrives on PlayStation 4 today!

To quote: Rev up your engines, Riders of the Rustlands is coming to your Playstation 4 today! It's time to continue your journey of racing dominance on the leaderboards by venturing into the fringes of civilization, leaving the cityscapes and high-tech regions in the dust.

In the Rustlands, you will encounter the home of people who have been ignored and forgotten by their government, people forced to scavenge through the shambles of once-thriving facilities in an effort to survive outside of the gleaming high-rises and vast cities. Warring factions, neglected laboratories and tetanus boosters are a way of life in the Rustlands.

Riders of the Rustlands brings ten new tracks to Trials Fusion, adding six medium-and-up difficulty classic Trials Tracks, two Supercross Tracks, one Skill Game, and one FMX Track.

There are also 18 Track Challenges, with new secret locations, and additional squirrels to be discovered, as well as 5 new trophies to earn. Track creators will find a nice selection of new Rustlands pieces in the Track Editor to use in their custom content.
