Video: Cancelled PS3 Exclusive FPS 'Redwood Falls' Footage 50°
February 19, 2009 // 9:37 pm - Redwood Falls was a zombie shooter first announced way back in 2006, exclusive to Sony's PS3 console.

Late last year, the title was put on indefinite hold by developer Kuju Entertainment, citing a lack of funds to continue the project.

Redwood Falls separated itself with it's gruesome damage system, allowing players to shoot or cut off pieces of flesh to get to the zombies vital organs.

The video shown was from early in development, when the title was still set to be multiplatform. It sets the mood of the game, going from a creepy forest to a desolate pier....

Unanounced Air Combat Game 'Stormbirds' Cancelled by THQ 50°
January 5, 2009 // 9:09 pm - An unannounced air combat game titled "Stormbirds," in development by Juice Games, was recently cancelled by THQ, according to former Juice artist Greg Calvert.

Stormbirds was set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC before THQ apparently got cold feet. As a result, the team of over 30 developers was laid off by Juiced owner THQ.

"The game was in the same genre as Ace Combat and HAWX," wrote Calvert in a recent blog post. "THQ deemed the project too high risk, [and] as a result the entire team were made redundant on the 1st of December 2008."

December 21, 2008 // 10:20 pm - Not that the whole using-cellphones-for-disease-detection is completely fresh, but the latest handset hack for medical purposes is still mighty impressive.

UCLA researcher Dr. Aydogan Ozcan has essentially converted a standard cellphone into a portable blood tester of sorts, which is capable of detecting HIV, malaria and various other illnesses.

Put as simply as possible, the device works by analyzing blood cells that are placed on an integrated off-the-shelf camera sensor and lit up with a filtered light source.

Said light source exposes unique...
