Is the PlayStation 3 really catching up to the Xbox 360? 650°
September 1, 2008 // 11:28 pm - With PS3 sales overtaking Xbox 360 sales in the last couple of months there have been many articles and reports flying around the Internet saying that the PS3 is finally starting to catch up to the 360 and may possibly even overtake it soon.

Interesting concept, except for the fact that it's flawed.

The current sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3 on VGchartz are as follows:

Xbox 360: 20.44 Million
PlayStation 3: 15.05 Million

The thing is, that if you look at the console sales, you can see that the gap in sales between the PS3 and Xbox 360 is...

Xbox Live Arcade: Screwing the Little Guy 50°
August 31, 2008 // 1:48 am - What was once billed as a tool to uplift indie developers has become just another method of trampling the little guy. What happened to XBLA?

What began as a passive experiment with some old arcade classics on the original Xbox has been reborn as one of the gaming industry's premier marketplaces. It seems like such a long time ago when the Xbox Live Arcade re-launched with the Xbox 360. In fact, it's been a little over two and a half years ago since the original Geometry Wars graced our hard drives. So much has changed since then.

Digital distribution on the 360 was hailed...

Everything you need to know about the next XBox 200°
August 29, 2008 // 7:49 pm - Will Microsoft launch its next-gen Xbox in 2011? There have been a couple of articles recently that have speculated on just that. We look at whether the 'Xbox 720' will feature a return to Intel chips, the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive, and more storage than you can ever fill.

A PlayStation 4 and potential 'Xbox 720' could arrive as early as 2011, estimates Crytek president and CEO Cevat Yerli. Industry analyst Colin Sebastian agrees, suggesting that "the general consensus amongst industry professionals is that a new generation of home consoles will arrive on the market...

Xbox 360 Prices, Come on Down 100°
August 28, 2008 // 9:36 pm - Update: Everyone has their own "optimal" configuration based on what they think is important, superfluous, or just plain irrelevant, so bear that in mind -- I'd never dogmatize about which configuration is "best," because that's something only each one of you can determine.

And of course a chart like this doesn't say a thing about the subjective value of exclusives like a Halo or a Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as whose online or interface schemas deliver more bang for your buck. Some people would gladly pay more or less for access to a given franchise, or to work within the...

Review: Xbox 360 Arcade a good deal for $199 50°
August 27, 2008 // 2:39 am - Ever since launch, the Xbox 360 core model without hard drive has largely been written off by gamers -- and rightfully so. It lacks many of the attractive advantages of its older brothers, not to mention value for what's included in the box. (Most core models can't even save games without separate purchase!)

But all that's about to change with the upcoming $80 price cut of the latest Arcade bundle (September 7, according to retailers), which includes a matte white system, wireless controller, and a 256 MB memory card for saving games and playing online.

The first thing...

Why the Xbox 360 was Forced to Launch First 50°
August 25, 2008 // 8:25 pm - In 2005 the Xbox 360 was launched in North America with a price point of $500 for the premium model and $400 for the "core" model. At this time the Xbox 360 was the only "next generation" console on the market, and it would stay like that for at least a year.

Originally, Sony was to launch their console, the PS3 in early 2006, however the console was delayed into November of 2006.

Weeks after launch many found flaws in the system and wondered why they were their. It seemed like many people forgot about Sony's original plan of releasing their console a few months...
