186w ago - Cold Beam Games CEO Steve Hunt shared some background today on the upcoming PS3 video game entitled Beat Hazard Ultra, which will arrive on PSN in September and be powered by your music!

To quote: My name is Steve Hunt and I'm excited to talk about my PSN game Beat Hazard Ultra, which hits the PS3 this September. I wrote the game from scratch on my own, in my bedroom!

About the Game

Beat Hazard Ultra is a twin stick arcade shooter that is entirely powered by YOUR music! Just copy some music on to your PS3 hard drive, or use the built-in songs, choose a track, and be dazzled by the eye-bleeding visuals as you blast away at enemy ships to the sound of your favorite pumping tunes.

Everything you see in the game is dictated by the music in some way, from the firepower of your ship to the number and patterns of enemies coming at you. Each track produces a unique (but, most importantly, repeatable) level.

In addition to Standard play, Ultra has plenty of cool gameplay features to keep you busy, including Boss Rush and Survival modes, 23 perks to unlock and 42 in-game challenges that award 14 trophies. There are also three awesome...

Video: Tozai Games Confirms Spelunker HD Hits PSN Tomorrow

50°
186w ago - Tozai Games Director/Producer Brett Ballow has confirmed that Spelunker HD hits the European PSN Store tomorrow alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: Good news my fellow Spelunkers of SCEE territories - the wait is over! It's time to charge up your headlamps and push your cave exploring tendencies to all new heights... er, depths: Spelunker HD is coming to the PlayStation Store tomorrow.

Throughout your arduous adventure you will encounter all the wicked elements of Timothy Martin's original 1983 masterpiece, but with so many newly concocted ways to die it may feel a bit like a devilish set-up... a cave of untold riches guarded by more pits, tricks, traps and more enemies than are stars in the night sky.

But the only stars you'll be seeing for weeks will be the ones circling your head as you run, jump, blast and scratch your way ever deeper towards the 100,000 meter finale. The 100 newly devised caverns may be set in 10 brand new high definition environments, but are just as behemoth in size and complexity as you remember and expect. And getting to the bottom is only half the battle.

But that's not the only catch; Spelunker, reputedly the weakest...

187w ago - Laughing Jackal LTD Development Manager Daren Morgan has announced today that Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death is heading to PlayStation Minis alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone's Fighting Fantasy series of interactive Gamebooks - "The adventures in which YOU are the Hero!" - have been published in 27 countries in 23 languages and have sold over 16 million copies.

Talisman of Death, one of the best-known Fighting Fantasy adventures, is the latest minis title from Laughing Jackal. Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death takes you to the once peaceful world of Orb, which is now in terrible danger. Dark forces are working together to unleash the awesome might of the Evil One. Your mission is to destroy the Talisman of Death before the dark lord's minions reach you. But beware! Time is running out!

Sony Confirms NTSC-J and NTSC-U PSOne Classics Hitting EU PSN

250°
187w ago - Today SCEE's Ross McGrath of the Sony PlayStation Store Team has confirmed that NTSC-J and NTSC-U PSOne Classics are being prepared to hit the European PSN Store.

To quote: I am very pleased to confirm that US and Japanese PSone emulations are being prepared for release on the SCEE PlayStation Stores.

While I cannot yet confirm dates or any of the titles in process at this time, there are a few that are already in process and you will start to see them publishing in the future.

What does this mean for you, the consumers?

Here are the key points:

• Publishers who own the rights to release PSone titles that were previously only available in the US and/or Japan will now be able to apply to have them released on the SCEE PlayStation Stores (providing they are rated by the appropriate ratings boards for each territory).

• All titles will be published 'as is', with either English or Japanese language game content where available.

• All titles will run at 60 Hz and you will need a 60 Hz capable display to play them properly.

This also means that if a PAL version of a title has been unable to pass QA in SCEE, but the NTSC version is already available on the PlayStation Store in SCEA or SCEJ, we can look at publishing...
