Video: Dokuro: A Bone-a-fide Hero Emerges Today on PS Vita

Video: Dokuro: A Bone-a-fide Hero Emerges Today on PS Vita 50°
124w ago - GungHo Online Entertainment America Community Associate Antonio Cara has shared a video spotlighting Dokuro: A Bone-a-fide Hero which emerges on PS Vita today.

To quote: In my last post, I talked a bit about the origins of my favorite numbskull, Dokuro, and the story surrounding his heroic exploits. My ever-diminishing pool of skeleton-themed puns notwithstanding, I'd like to go a bit deeper into the gameplay elements of Dokuro as well as the concepts that spurred development choices.

Although Dokuro was inspired by children's books - The Velveteen Rabbit and a Japanese children's book called Kuma to Yamaneko - don't let the adorable chalk-laden game fool you into thinking the Dark Lord's castle is child's play.

At first, Dokuro may look like a pretty straightforward 2D side-scrolling puzzler: You've got a clear goal of escorting the princess from point A to point B, and a seemingly narrow list of what you can and cannot do to accomplish it.

You push a few boxes around, toggle a switch or two, and bash a few bozos who try to hurt your precious princess. The game wouldn't be a fraction as interesting as it is, however, if it simply stopped there.

As you progress through the treacherous castle, you...

Video: Treasure Park for PlayStation Vita: How to Play Like a Pro

Video: Treasure Park for PlayStation Vita: How to Play Like a Pro 50°
124w ago - Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has posted up a video today showcasing how to play like a pro on Treasure Park for PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: Hi everyone! I'll let you into a secret. When I'm not busy in my role as President of Worldwide Studios I live a secret double life!

I'm a pro treasure hunter and was even at one point ranked number one in the world. My specialist field is an app only available on PS Vita called Treasure Park (although I can also be found searching for Drake's Fortune in the Golden Abyss).

I'm always on the lookout for new challengers, so today I'd like to share some of my experience with fledgling treasure hunters around the globe so that one day, you too might become a world-class pro.

Step 1:

When hunting for treasure, it's very important to bear in mind the concept of pieces. There are four different pieces hidden on a sheet; at the start, you're told the colors of where some parts of these pieces lie. This information is very important!

Let's focus on the bombs. In this example shown above, blue and yellow are risky colors.

Step 2:

There are two bombs lurking somewhere among the blue squares and...

Sony Goes Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita

Sony Goes Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita 100°
125w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch.

And I've gotta say, it's the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita's native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you'll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom's crossover fighter.

The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version - including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course - as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.

Another nice touch is the ability to customize your character's costume color, then share it with friends via PS Vita's integrated geo-social app "near." It's also worth noting that any DLC costumes or Gems you purchased for the PS3 version will port over to the PS Vita version at no extra cost.

PS Vita's front touchscreen is leveraged in several ways, most notably to create virtual buttons on the screen that you can reposition, resize,...

Sony Details Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita

Sony Details Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita 50°
125w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has detailed a Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita fans today!

To quote: The PS Vita version of 2007′s PlayStation 3 dice 'em up Ninja Gaiden Sigma was satisfying evidence of just how comfortable a full, lightning-fast console action game can feel on a handheld.

Duly, Team Ninja's announcement last month that a sequel - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus - is currently in development came as very welcome news.

PlayStation.Blog sat down for a quick chat with Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi to find out what it has in store with its new Vita game, as well as mysterious new project Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z and recent release Dead or Alive 5.

PlayStation.Blog: It's not been long since the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. Why are we seeing a sequel so soon?

Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja: We released Sigma Plus earlier this year and it actually did better than we expected, and there was a lot of fan demand for releasing a sequel. We were really happy with the results we got with the original, so that's why we're announcing Sigma 2 Plus.

PSB: What new features are you adding over and above the PlayStation 3 original?

YH: PlayStation Vita is definitely an easy console to play games...
