250°
298w ago - Famitsu has gotten new screenshots of Final Fantasy XIII up on their site. The images look marvelous, to say the least.

We see the spreading fertile land of Pulse, as well as an image of Cocoon floating above the land.

Another image depicts Vanille running through a viney forest. A new summon for Lightning, named Odin, is also shown.

Final Fantasy XIII is slated for a Winter 2009 release in Japan.

Check out a few of the Famitsu Final Fantasy XIII screens below, with the rest available at the site.

Video: E3 2009 on the Show Floor: Soulcalibur Broken Destiny

298w ago - Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared an E3 2009 Soulcalibur Broken Destiny video today, which was taken 'behind closed doors' from the show floor.

To quote: Well, technically it was behind closed doors on the show floor (PSB = VIP!).

Technicalities aside, we were lucky enough to get some private time with Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny Director Noriyuki Hiyama to talk about the first PSP version of Soulcalibur.

And perfect timing it was, considering Kratos was announced as a playable character at E3.

So here, Mr. Hiyama goes in depth on Kratos, including some background on the God of War star's inclusion as well as details regarding his brutal fighting style.

New MLB 09: The Show & Quantum of Solace Blu-ray PS3 Bundle?

298w ago - While the much anticipated price drop announcement never actually came to fruition at this year's E3, PlayStation 3 holdouts still might want to keep watch for a new bundle arriving at their local Walmart sometime this year.

To quote: According to photos (via Joystiq) taken by a tipster working at the mega-retailer, you'll soon be able to pick up the 80GB model of the PS3, plus MLB 09 The Show and Quantum of Solace on Blu-ray for just $399.99 - the standard price for the console on its own.

There's no official word on the bundle from Sony at this point, and it's also unclear whether or not it's being planned for multiple retailers or as a Walmart exclusive.

The photos appear legit, though, and let's hope so; Quantum of Solace and MLB 09 would certainly put to shame the Talladega Nights Blu-ray pack-in that early PS3 adopters were subjected to.

299w ago - Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a new E3 2009 Batman: Arkham Asylum video from the show's floor today via PlayStation Blog.

To quote: There are plenty of reasons to pick up Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3 on August 25.

But for those who are still unconvinced, I spoke with Lead Narrative Designer Paul Crocker of developer Rocksteady at E3 about the newest Batman game, including Play as the Joker exclusive to PLAYSTATION 3.

Sony Shows an Exclusive Desire to Win the Next-gen Console War

350°
299w ago - First it came in the form of an epic 'screw you' to every non-Sony gamer who was looking forward to the simultaneous multiplatform PAL release of Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

The common criticism was that Microsoft had done it for a long time, so why shouldn't Sony be able to do the same thing?

As time passed it became clear that Atari was in some potentially dire financial straits that may well have acted as necessary motivation to accept Sony's offer.

Potentially Sony was acting as a saviour and throwing Atari a lifeline that allowed them to release a game that has enjoyed considerable positive hype.

The other platforms aren't missing out on Ghostbusters entirely; they're merely forced to wait for a period of time before they can access it.

In this respect, the Ghostbusters debacle can be seen as 'just desserts' for Microsoft who have been more than willing to do such things in the past.

But then came the announcement that Batman: Arkham Asylum, another multiplatform release, is set to receive exclusive content for PS3 owners. PS3 owners who purchase Arkham Asylum will be able to access The Joker in the game's Challenge Modes.
