What Does the PlayStation 3 Have this Holiday Season?

What Does the PlayStation 3 Have this Holiday Season? 400°
338w ago - One of the things I remember from this year's E3 is when Jack Tretton said that the year 2008 is the year where the PlayStation 3 will rise up to its competitiors. With the launching of the PlayStation Video Store this year, and LittleBigPlanet finally approaching by the end of the year, is 2008 really the year of the PlayStation 3?

The PlayStation 3 has lost a lot of third party exclusive games this year such as Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto IV, Ace Combat 6, Tales of Vesperia, and Star Ocean 4, but this doesn't stop Sony from going. Even though Sony has lost the faith of its third party developers, they have big studios all around the world to bring you first party exclusive titles that we await this year, such as Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.

Will these first party titles of Sony be enough to sustain the glory that the PlayStation brand once had? Will this year's Holiday titles be enough? With 111 days left before year 2009 kicks in, let's take a look of the exclusive games Sony has this fall:

NBA 09: The Inside
Release Date: 10/7/2008

For the first time on PS3, NBA 09 The Inside includes "The Life", providing fans with a completely unique and inside experience of life in the league. This year The life starts fresh, allowing players...

What Would Kill Mirror's Edge

What Would Kill Mirror's Edge 50°
341w ago - This year holds many candidates for Game of the Year. EA announced Mirror's Edge developed by DICE. When the first trailer hit PLAYSTATION Store, everyone was shocked by the graphics and how Faith interacts with the world. DICE said that this game would be based on free running and would blow the world away.

Unfortunately for them, there were some details announced that was not talked about - like some parts of the game would be in 3rd person. Being able to control Faith right in 1st person looks beautiful as of right now, and I wonder what it would look like in 3rd person. However, there is something that would kill Mirror's Edge and would be a huge factor in its reviews.

Take Heavenly Sword for instance - brilliant game, amazing graphics and fun game play, yet it lacked in a major key function of any game being made - which is longevity. Heavenly Sword was in development for more than 4 years. This game gave off the wrong messages to us gamers, 4 years of development would mean a long game with amazing features. But when I finished Heavenly Sword I was shocked with the little amount of hours of game play I put in to it - it was way too short.

Uncharted was another game which followed in the same steps as Heavenly Sword. The developers Naughty Dog created such games as Crash Bandicoot...

Windows 7: What will it do? When will it launch? Here's the lowdown

Windows 7: What will it do? When will it launch? Here's the lowdown 100°
341w ago - Windows 7, the next version of Windows, is closer than you might think, with early copies already in the hands of OEMs and trusted partners. Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer demonstrated an early version of its user interface at the D6: All Things Digital conference in May but Steven Sinofsky - who took over Windows 7 after his success getting Office out of the door on time, time after time - is well known for keeping things close to his chest.

There's been very little solid information about just what's going to go into Microsoft's flagship OS, just plenty of speculation and rumour. So what can you expect from Windows 7? Here's what we predict...

1. Windows 7 won't be a from-the-ground up rewrite of Windows. Instead it'll be an evolution of the NT kernel as updated in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, according to Windows Product Manager Chris Flores. This will mean that applications should run without needing significant changes, and there will be an upgrade path from Windows Vista (though things will be harder for Windows XP users).

The rumoured "MinWin" kernel is most unlikely - though it's likely that there'll be lessons learned from Windows Server 2008's modular architecture, which Microsoft could use to offer a version of Windows 7 that runs on cheap...

What Final Fantasy 13 Will and Won't do for the Xbox 360

What Final Fantasy 13 Will and Won't do for the Xbox 360 50°
345w ago - Today you will hear about what Final Fantasy 13 will and won't do for the Xbox 360. So sit back, grab a beer or your respective drink, and get ready to read!

4. Final Fantasy WON'T be the saving grace in Japan for the Xbox 360

Final Fantasy does not need to be released in Japan for the sole reason that Xbox 360 in Japan is pretty much the equivalent of finding a VII gaming system in America. In Japan, they don't want much to do with the Xbox 360. They support their countries products and have no need for a American console with more shoot'em ups that you can shake a stick at. Just take a look at July's numbers of in Japan.

1. PSP- 56,998
2. Nintendo DS- 48,540
3. Wii- 41,798
4. PS3- 12,458
5. PS2- 10,405
6. Xbox 360- 3,807

If I were in charge of Microsoft, I would have stopped trying to beat that dead horse many days ago.

3. Final Fantasy 11 was on the 360.

FF11 on the 360 was a joke, as far as I can remember (the beta). The game had a install time that was just ridiculously long. The game was known to have a 6 to 10 hour install time. You could not just set the game to install then go off to work. You would always have to click different things every hour or so.

On top of having a install time that took...

The Wii Keyboard: Just exactly what the Name Suggests

The Wii Keyboard: Just exactly what the Name Suggests 200°
347w ago - Next time you sit down to write your Great American Novel, perhaps you should consider tapping the opus out on your Wii with Logic 3's weird and somewhat awful - though excellently named - Wii Keyboard.

There's not much meat on these bones - it's simply an add-on for Nintendo's console that allows you to type on a QWERTY pad rather than light-sabering all over your apartment to name your new Mii "Death Bringer."

The keyboard is due out July 18th (in the UK at least), and will nab a tidy £14.99 (or about $30).
