This newer portable version will let you have blogs, photo albums, and some social networking features like chat, mini-games, and real-time communication.

The upcoming PSPGo will also have 700 launch games when it arrives on October 1st in North America, to quote from Examiner.com (linked above):

284w ago - As a follow-up to the initial announcement on Sony's PS3 and PSP game lineup, today Examiner.com (linked above) outlines what fans can expect at Tokyo Games Show 2009.

For those unaware, the event is taking place from September 24th to the 27th, and the special keynote address is scheduled for the first day. To quote:

Gran Turismo 5
After being in development for years, it looks like Gran Turismo 5 may finally be coming out relatively soon. With a 2009 release date a possibility, you can expect Sony to give a huge blowout of game's features at the Tokyo Game Show, including the exciting head-tracking mode. Gran Turismo 5 is expected to be a top-seller for the PlayStation 3; so Sony should be giving the full spotlight to their exclusive first-party title.

PSP Go
Although it may be hard to imagine, the PSP is more popular in Japan than the PlayStation 3. With the launch of the PSP Go quickly closing in, Sony must make a strong last impression at the Tokyo Game Show. Although the software lineup will no doubt be strong (with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep leading the way), Sony must convince prospective buyers that the new PSP model...

Sony: PSP Go Firmware Prevents Piracy, Unable to Rip Games

Sony: PSP Go Firmware Prevents Piracy, Unable to Rip Games 650°
287w ago - Sony's John Koller has stated that the PSP Go has new firmware which precludes piracy and won't allow anyone to rip games.

He added that there is now no external battery either, which is part of the 'protections' for the system.

To quote: "We've had a lot of success with the 3000," Koller says when I bring up the issue. While the earlier models of the PSP were incredibly easy to use with ripped or downloaded games, the PSP Go is going to make things tougher on the pirates.

"You won't be able to rip your games and play them on the system, the firmware precludes that," Koller explained. "There's no external battery, so there's a number of protections put into place on the system."

Although this is sure to protect the PSP Go, this may come of as one slight downfall for the PSP Go now. When that battery starts to wear down, that means sending that sexy device to sony for a couple of weeks with a fee.

PSN App Store Confirmed for PSP Download Games and Apps 50°
294w ago - SCEE's head of developer relations, Zeno Colaço, has confirmed rumors that a new section of the PS Store that focuses on "snackable" games and applications for the PSP in on the way, to tackle the threat posed by Apple's fast-growing App Store.

To quote: "We're introducing new initiatives for the PSP which take it beyond traditional gaming, but still includes elements from gaming, and also includes new developers," said Colaço, confirming Sony has over 50 studios already working on games and apps for the new initiative.

These are to be sold via a new, "specially branded" area of the PS Store for the PSP and PSP Go, according to Develop.

"It is still a professional environment, you still need a development kit and you still need to have investment and a team," he told the site." But it can be a small team. We don't see any of the restrictions on the disc-based space being in this space."

Users can expect "snackable" games as small as 20MBs in size, he teases.
