GDC 2009: Untapped PlayStation Network Potential Detailed 50°
March 26, 2009 // 12:58 am - When the PlayStation Network launched in 2006, many saw it as a sea of untapped potential, but Jon Webb from the SCEA Developer Support Group says Sony's made strides to correct that and that now it's up to developers to capitalize.

Webb spoke today at GDC about the PSN's past, present, and future. While a lot of the discussion focused on the nuts and bolts of running the service for the 20 million registered users, Webb did talk about all the improvements the company added to the PSN last year.

Sure, a lot of lip service was paid to Trophies and the in-game cross...

GDC '09: PlayStation Home to Launch Three Spaces a Month 100°
March 25, 2009 // 10:33 pm - At GDC 2009 PlayStation Home director Jack Buser stated that Sony is planning to launch at least three Home spaces a month.

To quote: "You'll see about three new spaces launched a month - I'll be shocked if we ever go under that number, we have so much in the pipeline," Buser said.

He mentioned that a recent "good space" (we're guessing Resident Evil 5) had a quarter of a million visits a week in the US, with 75 per cent of visitors spending more than 10 minutes there - something that far exceeds consumer's usual involvement with advertising, he argued.

GDC '09: Ubisoft Announces New Intellectual Property - R.U.S.E. 50°
March 25, 2009 // 3:52 pm - JoyStiq (linked above) checked out Ubisoft's new RTS slash board-game-on-steroids, R.U.S.E., and have made available a high-quality HD trailer, along with some screenshots, to show for it.

To quote: This thing must have been made by someone living in a giant mansion on a cliff in Monte Carlo.
