Activision CEO Expects at least 8 Years out of the PS3 50°
349w ago - During the Activision Blizzard Analyst Day, CEO Robert Kotick expressed his expectations that the PS3 will last at least eight years.

Since Activision Blizzard is now "largest payer of royalties to the first-parties of any third-party company," the CEO believes the company is "starting to influence hardware design."

When is that going to happen, you ask? "I think there's a long life ahead of us, we're in year eight of PlayStation 2 and when you look at PlayStation 3 technically we're likely to see at least eight years' success."

Chris Easton: Prince of Persia Co-Op now a Possibility 50°
363w ago - Speaking to videogaming247, Chris Easton - Prince of Persia's community development manager - has said that co-operative play in the upcoming action reboot may be explored.

An earlier statement, given by producer Ben Mattes at the recent Ubidays event, said that there would no co-op in the game at all.

New cable cut compounds net woes 50°
381w ago - A submarine cable in the Middle East has been snapped, adding to global net problems caused by breaks in two lines under the Mediterranean on Wednesday.

The Falcon cable, owned by a firm which operates another damaged cable, led to a "critical" telecom breakdown, according to one local official.

The cause of the latest break has not been confirmed but a repair ship has been deployed, said owner Flag Telecom.

Severed cables disrupt Internet 50°
382w ago - Internet services have been disrupted in large parts of the Middle East and India following damage to two undersea cables in the Mediterranean.

There was disruption to 70% of the nationwide network in Egypt, and India suffered up to 60% disruption.

UK firms such as British Airways have told the BBC that call centres have been affected by the outage.

Industry experts said it could take up to one week to repair the damaged cables and resume full service.

Not only did the PlayStation Store launch yesterday to allow access from your PC, but the company also decided to plant an easter egg for those curious enough to browse the store.
