Chew Clocks Phenom to 4.5GHz on Air and 6.4GHz on LN2 200°
May 14, 2009 // 8:59 pm - We just received a link leading to an AMD-sponsored YouTube channel, showing an HD video how Brian McLachlan [alias chew*] overclocked Phenom II 955 and DDR3 memory. You can see the HD video below.

What caught our attention in the video was the fact that Brian didn't take the usual route of slapping a LN2 pot and pouring Liquid-nitrogen from the word go.

Chew* used AMD Phenom II 955 processor, GigaByte 790FX-based motherboards [MA790FXT-UD5P], Corsair DDR3-1866 memory, ATI Radeon HD 4850 and 4890 graphics cards in single and Crossfire mode. In this video, chew* posted...

Bushing Reports on Returning Modified Wii Consoles for Repair 400°
April 24, 2009 // 3:05 pm - It seems that Nintendo is now charging almost to full price for a Nintendo Wii if you've installed unsigned code on the machine that resulted in a 'bricked' console.

To quote: I've been asked whether installing the Homebrew Channel (or Twilight Hack or whatever) will void the warranty on a Wii. I've generally said something like "Technically, yes, but I doubt they will enforce that."

This seemed reasonable, given some of the anecdotes I've heard – stories of people ruining their drives with a soldering iron and still getting free repair work done under warranty,...

Former IBM Architect: PS3 and XBox 360 Power is Fairly Equal 50°
January 19, 2009 // 10:24 pm - Former IBM technical architect David Shippy, who worked on both the PS3's Cell-specific PPU chip and XBox 360's Xenon CPU has discussed the power of each system.

He couldn't give a definite answer on which system was powerful and laughed it all depends. The conclusion that he come to was that overall they are fairly equal even though they use different processing models.

Unanounced Air Combat Game 'Stormbirds' Cancelled by THQ 50°
January 5, 2009 // 9:09 pm - An unannounced air combat game titled "Stormbirds," in development by Juice Games, was recently cancelled by THQ, according to former Juice artist Greg Calvert.

Stormbirds was set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC before THQ apparently got cold feet. As a result, the team of over 30 developers was laid off by Juiced owner THQ.

"The game was in the same genre as Ace Combat and HAWX," wrote Calvert in a recent blog post. "THQ deemed the project too high risk, [and] as a result the entire team were made redundant on the 1st of December 2008."

December 22, 2008 // 12:25 am - Just before the weekend, TedTheDog has stated on the European PlayStation boards (linked above) that Red Bull's Air Race definitely won't appear in 2008.

To quote: Beta's are often difficult as everyone wants the new toy, whatever it may be, to work just as the vision portrays but as a beta things are being used in untried ways and things are bound to go wrong.

And the vision of Home is pretty exciting right? We know its a little bare right now and we've got some problems to solve, but they'll be solved and we can then move on to running it as the service we all...
