Brutal Legend's Tears of the Hextadon DLC Hits PSN for Free

50°
279w ago - Electronic Arts Product Marketing Manager Brent Dady has announced today that Brütal Legend's Tears of the Hextadon DLC is launching for free on PSN.

To quote: Now that Rocktober of the year of our metal Lords 2009 is coming to a close, we at Double Fine Productions and Electronic Arts are taking the time to reflect back upon a pretty eventful year.

Here are just a select few of the very many Brütal Legend highlights that have lodged into my memory banks:

1. Jack Black, Tim Schafer, and Rob Halford unveiling Brütal's gameplay for the first time to the coalition of the willing PS3 gamers at the Spike VGAs.

2. E3 - staying up until 9am the day of the show loading builds (I may have never recovered from this all year), live Twitter chats, a banner 1/3 the size of a football field, debuting our talent trailer, the coalition of the unwilling finds its leader. Pandemonium!

3. Comic-con - the infamous Brütal Legend concert featuring 3 Inches of Blood and GWAR.

4. Wherein Tim Schafer tries to solve a Rubik's Cube in the time that it takes Emily Ridgway, Double Fine's audio director, to recite the bands and titles of the 108 songs off of the (I would say EPIC) Brütal soundtrack.

5. Launch! Marketing and...

Video: Inferno Pool for PS3 is Coming to PSN this Week

50°
279w ago - Today Dark Energy Digital Senior Creative Designer Rob Hewson revealed that Inferno Pool for PS3 is coming to PSN this week and has shared a video below.

To quote: It's been five months since the exclusive launch of Inferno Pool on the European PSN Store, and after a bombardment of emails asking when it was going to hit North America we can finally say, Thursday!

Just before the European PSN Store launch, there was a nervous excitement within the team here. When the people who have been developing the game for months on end are still hanging around at lunch and after work for yet another four-player battle royale you feel confident that you have something special. But would the rest of the world get it?

The answer was a resounding yes. There was a real buzz in the studio as the first glowing reviews began to roll in calling it an essential PSN purchase and waxing lyrical about evenings lost in a frenzy of multiplayer action, but the most satisfying thing of all was the reaction from gamers themselves.

Dedicated forums began to pop up discussing strategic ballzooka targeting, how to pull off a kickshot-multiball-combo and how to amass a devastating Endurance Mode time by stringing together a huge potting streak multiplier. In...

Coming to PSN this Week: LocoRoco Midnight Carnival for PSP

50°
279w ago - Today SCEA Santa Monica Producer Tsubasa Inaba has announced that LocoRoco Midnight Carnival PSP is coming to PSN this week.

To quote: Have you all decided on your Halloween costumes yet?
Have you stocked up on candy for the Trick or Treating kids in the neighborhood?

Have you charged your wallets up in preparation for LocoRoco Midnight Carnival for PSP, available this Thursday on PSN for $14.99?

Well, thankfully you have a few more days to get ready! In this week's blog post, we'd like to share a little more on the features, specifically multiplayer!

For the first time in Loco history, you can now race friends through levels! Via Ad Hoc, connect with up to four players and see who can get to the end first. Each player controls their own tilt and bounce action, but you can see their position on your screen so you know when you are neck and neck. To show you how this works, I challenged Kumi, my LocoRoco partner-in-crime here, to a race and we recorded it.

Many of you regular readers may recall a blog post for LocoRoco 2 when we first introduced Ad Hoc competition LocoRoco Minigame called LocoRider. Kumi and I played head to head and she ended up beating me. So this is our rematch!

(She is...

Uncharted: Eye of Indra - First Episode on PSN Today

100°
279w ago - Naughty Dog's Lead Game Designer Neil Druckmann has revealed that the first episode of Uncharted: Eye of Indra is hitting PSN today.

To quote: I hope everyone's digging UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. It's awesome that so many of you are already playing through the single player campaign for the second time, or even multiple times.

For all of you wanting more Nathan Drake, you're in luck - hitting the PSN today is UNCHARTED: Eye of Indra - a four episode Motion Comic - it's an original prequel story to UNCHARTED: Drake's Fortune. We've been working on this baby for the past year and it's been brutal not being able to talk about it.

For those unfamiliar with them, a Motion Comic is essentially an animated comic book - you watch it like a movie. Characters move, there's some 3D effects, and cool panel transitions.

Expect some of your favorite characters and voice-actors from the UNCHARTED universe to show up throughout the story. Other than Nolan North reprising his role as Nathan Drake, I can't announce who else shows up in the story as that'll spoil some of the fun.

We're launching the first episode for free to whet your appetite and the rest of the episodes...
