Assault Android Cactus Unleashes Bullet Hell on PS4 and PS Vita

50°
79w ago - Witch Beam Artist/Programmer Tim Dawson announced today that Assault Android Cactus is set to unleash bullet hell on PS4 and PS Vita!

To quote: Hello PlayStation gamers! I'm thrilled to announce that our action-packed shoot 'em up, Assault Android Cactus, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita!

For those of you who have never heard of Assault Android Cactus, it's about a team of androids trying to rescue a spaceship by fighting back against a robot uprising. Over a 25-level campaign, the androids will face screens of enemies, brave bullet hell style bosses and environments that switch, shift and transform around them.

These androids are pretty tough, getting knocked down clears their powerups but they can get right back up again. The catch is they run on battery, and when that runs out it's game over!

Putting the onus for action on the player turns typical twin stick pacing on its head - it's not a game you can beat by playing cautiously, the only way to make it out alive is to careen recklessly through the stages and to tame the chaos from within it.

We wanted to create something that captured the spirit of what arcade games meant to us when we were growing up, being tough but fair and the kind of game you could come back to again and again and...

Laughing Jackal: Flame Over on PS Vita is Blazing a Trail in 2014

50°
79w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Al Evans announced today that Flame Over on PS Vita will be blazing a trail in 2014.

Below are the details, to quote: I'm Al, Senior Producer at Laughing Jackal, and I'm here to tell you about our new PS Vita game, Flame Over.

Flame Over is a fast-paced, action-packed fire-fighting roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels and a complex fire simulation that radiates, jumps between objects, consumes fuel and destroys its environment in real time.

The player's objective is simple: guide a fire-fighter through the 16 floors of Infernal Industries' skyscraping HQ, exploring your environment, seeking out loot, secrets and power ups and hunting down blazes against the clock.

All levels in Flame Over are fully destructible and feature different themes, many room types, secret items and hidden levels, environmental hazards and tons of lovely loot and power ups. Nom nom nom!

A fire-fighting game needs a legendary hero, so we bring you Blaze Carruthers, London's foremost fire-fighting hero. The only thing bigger than Blaze's heart is his luxuriant moustache, and NO fire is gonna singe its tips!

The idea for Flame Over was born during a fire training day last year. I was watching a video about the chemistry of...

Final Horizon: An Extraterrestrial RTS on PS4 and PS Vita

50°
79w ago - Eiconic Games Art and Creative Director Simon Credland announced that extraterrestrial RTS Final Horizon is incoming on both PS4 and PS Vita platforms with details below.

To quote: Hi everyone, this is Si at indie developer Eiconic Games in the UK, the same developer behind recent PS Vita title Total Recoil. We're very pleased to officially announce that our new game Final Horizon is in development for Vita and will also be our first title for the PS4.

This is an RTS game like you've never seen before. Imagine if in James Cameron's Aliens the Aliens attacked in robotic tanks and helicopters. That would be even more awesome, right? That's what we're aiming at here. Space Invaders just turned nasty.

It's great being able to talk about the project at this early stage - it gives us a chance to share some of the process of developing a game, from the earliest designs and our hopes and plans for what we would like to accomplish within the time we have to work on the project.

I've been working on some concepts and models of the alien craft.

Final Horizon is the evolution of tower defense. You won't see Insectors walking slowly in single file from left to right here. Without spoiling the surprise, they will use every tool at their disposal to attack your Colonists....

Sony Announces Gravity Crash Ultra is Coming Soon to PS Vita

50°
79w ago - Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray announced today via Sony's blog that Gravity Crash Ultra is coming soon to PS Vita.

To quote: Back in 2009 we released Gravity Crash for PlayStation 3, a love letter to classic '80s shooter gaming.

The game was a labor of love for our small team, a team that wanted to produce a title with precision controls, high definition visuals and memorable sound but remain a modern-day interpretation of retro arcade gameplay.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, Gravity Crash is a side-scrolling space shooter featuring well over 40 levels, a host of enemy types and five major boss battles.

We here at Just Add Water are excited to reveal that we're now working on a native PS Vita version of Gravity Crash, which will retain that all important 60 frames a second speed with native PS Vita graphics running at the full 960 x 544 resolution, making the most of that stunning OLED screen - we're really excited about how vivid and rich Vita makes our game look.

To us, PS Vita is the number one platform for the game - the bite-sized level design and clear structure making it the ideal game to play on your daily commute, and the system's controls - with the dual analog sticks and touch-screen - allow for pixel-perfect precision in both the...

Jaywalkers Interactive: Kick & Fennick Launches on PS Vita in 2014

50°
79w ago - Jaywalkers Interactive Co-Founders Vincent Bonefaas and Laurens Bruins announced today that Kick & Fennick launches on PS Vita in 2014.

To quote: We didn't count, but we must have saved the world thousands of times. Like many of us, we spent most of our childhood being superheroes dressed in cardboard armor with a towel around our neck, having the most amazing and epic adventures.

Thankfully, now that we're adults *cough*, video games still allow us to immerse ourselves in imaginary worlds, without looking like fools throwing pinecone grenades at each other. But this image of us as kids, running around the woods with a big stick, is thoroughly stuck in our minds.

This is where the idea for Kick & Fennick originated, remembering the fun we had saving the world, and our friends, with our massive stick weapons.

There are no complications as a kid, but if a real ten-year old boy would fire one of our imaginary super guns, he would surely launch himself through the air just from the weapon's recoil... which would be pretty damn cool!

We love big, cinematic game experiences. We're just a two-man team, but we couldn't have Kick just jumping around a bit using his weapon.

No, he needs to jump across huge skyscrapers, breaking through walls...
