Video: The Tester - Episode 5 for PS3 Available on PSN Today 50°
259w ago - PlayStation Network Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi has revealed a preview of the latest episode 5 of The Tester today, and confirmed that it will be available in its entirety on PSN.

To quote: This week's episode is called "Buzz In or Buzz Off." The remaining 6 (only 6!) gamers take on a BUZZ!-themed quiz challenge testing their mastery of all things PlayStation.

It really heats up when SCEA's Director of First Party Quality Assurance, Jeff Wilkerson, joins the panel this week to evaluate who might have what it takes to work on one of his QA teams.

There's no place to hide in this episode and somebody is bound to crack under the pressure. This knowledge challenge is anything but trivial. Who's got the answers? Who has no clue?

Find out in Episode 5 and witness every twitch, lip quiver, high-five and blank stare to see who goes on and who goes home.

The Tester is available in both Standard and High Definition formats from PlayStation Store and also showing in PlayStation Home - Theater 8, where another free cast T-shirt will be rewarded. (This week, it's a...

259w ago - SCEE's Mike Kebby of the PlayStation Store Team is here with this week's EU PSN update today, as follows:

It feels like it's been ages since I was last on here. How you all doing? I'm back, my feet are under the table again, and I'm dug in for the long haul. It feels good to be here again

We have a new batch of special offers available this week, with the mini title Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam joining the fun.

This is the first mini title joining the special offers section, and marks the first of many that will be making an appearance over the coming weeks and months.

As mentioned earlier in the week on the blog, Wakeboarding HD is released and will provide some awesome fun for you. Also released this week is the massive expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening. This pack adds about 25 hours of story related missions, as well as new characters and skills.

Finally, as also mentioned on the blog earlier this week, Patchwork Heroes is released for the PSP, and again looks like it's going to provide hours of fun.

As usual, I'll be around all day checking out your comments, so I'll probably catch you around. Cheers all, have a good...

Sony's PS3 and PSP to Get Skinny PSN Applications Store

Sony's PS3 and PSP to Get Skinny PSN Applications Store 300°
259w ago - It's been both rumored and in development for quite some time, and now Develop-Online.net has confirmed that Sony's PS3 and PSP are indeed getting a 'skinny' PSN applications store.

Dubbed skinny, the SDK tool is a simple yet effective means for content holders to put their intellectual property on the PlayStation platforms without software development.

Skinny consists of an authoring tool and a native client runtime for PS3 and PSP developers.

To quote: "Skinny is "ideal" for "strategy guides, game maps, cheats, training manuals, episodic videos, eBooks and eMagazines" and consists of a web-based editor/authouring tool and a software client for both the PS3 and PSP.

The user creations still require submission to Sony for approval, but this will quickly pave the way for lots of mini-apps on the PlayStation Store."

Video: Coming to PSP on PSN This Week: Patchwork Heroes 50°
259w ago - Folklore Associate Producer Eric Fong has announced that Patchwork Heroes is coming to PSP on PSN this week alongside a video preview below.

To quote: This Thursday, March 18, is the release of Patchwork Heroes on PlayStation Network for PSP. As an Associate Producer working on the title, I'm pleased to bring you an inside look at the game from the developers to mark the occasion, enjoy!

My name is Yuki Ikeda, and I am the director of Patchwork Heroes. I am also a part of "PlayStation C.A.M.P.!", which is short for Creator Audition Mash Up Project.

For those of you who aren't familiar with CAMP yet, it's basically a new Sony Computer Entertainment initiative to search for people who live in Japan and have an innovative approach to bring unique games to PS3 and PSP systems.

Before joining Sony Computer Entertainment, I worked on special designs and models for amusement parks, live theaters, and other fun projects.

The idea for Patchwork Heroes came from wanting to make an action game that was sort of like cutting up paper with scissors, and I ended up pairing that with something very dynamic: giant aircraft and battleships!

The basic premise of the game is to use a big saw to cut giant...
