European PlayStation Store Update for April 15, 2010

European PlayStation Store Update for April 15, 2010 200°
255w ago - Today Mike Kebby of the SCEE PlayStation Store Team has detailed this week's European PSN update contents.

To quote: I'm sure most of you are aware that this week we finally get the much anticipated episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony onto the store... exciting, I'm sure you'll agree (they will be available on Friday morning not the usual Thursday publish).

Also, the first episode for the new Sam and Max game The Devil's Playground is available for those who pre-ordered. If you didn't pre-order don't worry though, as you can download the trial, and then buy the full season entitlement if you'd like to continue their adventures (the full season entitlement will also still be available on the store separately from the trial too).

Finally, because I am such a massive fan of System of a Down, and their brilliant frontman Serj Tankian, I have to mention that there are Two Rock Band tracks available from Mr. Tankian's incredible solo album. I urge you Rock Banders out there to get downloading these awesome tracks, and if you don't like them, then there's no accounting for taste is there? I jest, I jest.

To finish, some housekeeping: please be advised the store management team is not actually in the office today...

Coming to PSN this Week: Capcom's Final Fight: Double Impact

Coming to PSN this Week: Capcom's Final Fight: Double Impact 500°
255w ago - Capcom's PR Specialist Jason Allen has revealed today to fans that Final Fight: Double Impact will be coming to PSN this week.

To quote: Capcom's ready to unleash the next masterpiece in its retro digital dynasty. Make way for Final Fight: Double Impact, hitting PlayStation Network with a vintage vengeance!

Starting tomorrow, April 15th, fans can own two incredible Capcom classic releases – Final Fight and Magic Sword – all for the price of one ($9.99).

In Final Fight, players follow the heart-pounding adventures of Cody, Guy, and Haggar – three heroes fighting their way across crime-ridden Metro City in hopes of saving Haggar's daughter from the evil clutches of Mad Gear. In Magic Sword, users will take on the role of a brave warrior and his eight allies, all bearing the daunting responsibility of cleansing evil forces from an ancient tower.

These two games take us back to a time when arcades were sanctuaries of youthful bliss. They are un-self-conscious treasures, clear in their pursuit to inflame the imagination and turn players into brawling action heroes. At Capcom, we've sought to reacquaint our fans with this experience...

Video: Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype Coming to PSN in May 2010 100°
255w ago - Soldner-X 2 Executive Producer Tet Ishida has posted up a video trailer today for the upcoming PSN title Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype which is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation Network in May, 2010.

To quote: In partnership with SideQuest Studios, I've been co-producing our upcoming PS3 shoot 'em up game Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype, expected to hit the PlayStation Network in the coming month.

Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype is the successor to our 2008 released PS3 game Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer (yes, unless you are fluent in German, that was the game with the impossible-to-pronounce name).

Gameplay wise Söldner-X 2 is taking you back to the roots of the classical 2D shoot 'em up (or also referred to as 'shmup') genre, audio-visually combined with what the PS3 has to offer.

In this horizontal-scrolling shmup, it's your mission to protect the galaxy from the D'aarg, a technologically superior race that is threatening mankind.

To leave it plain and simple for now, during the seven stages of the game, you can expect nothing but pure action with hundreds of enemies to shoot down, thousands of bullets to...

Video: Sony Introduces Episode 2 of FirstPlay on PS3 via PSN 50°
255w ago - Sony FirstPlay Associate Editor Nathan Ditum has shared a video preview of Episode 2 today, which will be hitting PS3 via PSN this week.

To quote: First of all I'd like to say a massive thanks to everyone who tried Episode 1 last week, and for all the feedback we've received.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, and as we learn what all the shiny FirstPlay knobs and buttons do, it'll only get better from here.

And just to prove it, episode 002 will be up on the Store from this Thursday (15th), featuring a review of Super Street Fighter IV alongside previews of explosive racer Split/Second: Velocity and dog 'em up Dead To Rights: Retribution.

We've also got another packed set of Network Highlights - including a countdown of your best FIFA goals - and a first look at Shinji Mikami's new shooter Vanquish in our screenshot galleries.

This all comes at our regular, cheaper-than-a-posh-packet-of-biscuits price of 99p (or £8.99 for a 90-day subscription). And to make the deal even sweeter, this week we're giving away a full minis game worth £2.49. Not...
