To quote, roughly translated: Well I dedicate this information for some EOL aware of that are still believed themselves the lies that this is an exploit, when it really takes advantage of the technology of Sony and jigcard backdoor into the USB port and libusb.

Alert and has long behind it were several people including Mathieulh, Geohot and Richdevx and as you see all this coming out of their hands... this debate is what has led to the TeamHades was dissolved by doubting my statements and worst all that I crellesen my own colleagues and friends.

Here you have the PDF of JigCard so you can see with your own eyes have deceived you into believing it is an exploit, save data as the service mode to do this for chapters and no deliveries and so suspicious of them.

And since I already communicated that leaves...

Project: RichDevX PSGroove Payload for PS3 Service Mode

1000°
231w ago - Today French site PS3Gen.fr (linked above) reports news of a project RichDevX is working on where a PSGroove payload is utilized for examining PS3 Service Mode.

To quote, roughly translated: "RichDevX tells us about his progress with his playload to put the PlayStation 3 in service mode and recently released two snapshots of progress.

It is indeed working on a payload to get the console into service mode and be able to launch a file. Choke on every boot via a USB key and others.

As shown in this first image, we can see the red box on the XMB showing that the console actually went into service mode. In this mode, it is possible to run specific software, including one allowing the downgrade (the opposite of update, ie back to a previous firmware).

OtherOS who says so says downgrade option of going back 3.15 for benefit of OtherOS plus most of the hack with PSGroove.

Payload through this, it is also possible to run each time you start the console, loading a file. Self from a USB key as explained above. This could allow the hack using only one time a dongle or other, then your USB stick could complete the task alone. Advances in the underground world push the limits even further, watch this."

Finally, those who haven't heard about the PlayStation...

Castlevania: Lord Of Shadow PS3 Interview with Dave Cox

50°
231w ago - As a follow-up to yesterday's article on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3, today SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has posted up an interview with the video game's producer Dave Cox today.

To quote: By now, quite a few PlayStation 3 owners will have had the chance to try out the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demo.

What were you trying to put across with that teaser?

It was just a small taster of what to expect. The demo was created to showcase the visuals the game enjoys and as a basic introduction to how the user can enhance Gabriel's combat and abilities.

It is difficult showing the variety of the full game in just two levels, but the first stage is a sampler of the way combat works, while the second level, where Gabriel is horse-bound and battling Wargs and Lycans, highlights the variety of content the final game offers.

How would you describe the learning curve of your combat system?

It's a constantly evolving system, where the player can decide what to add and when. We wanted to remain true to the exploration ethos of the original Castlevania games, where a picture of the map would indicate areas you had...

Project: Attempts Being Made to Re-Enable OtherOS on PS3

850°
232w ago - Update: A video is now available below of a PS JailBreak OtherOS Installer from Sh1m3oN (proof of concept enabling features in the PS3 XMB) with some details on how to do it from Reaver at TeknoGods.

Recently C4PT started a project in attempt to re-enable OtherOS on JailBroken PS3 consoles, as you have the option to run your own selfs on them.

To quote: "C4PT has successfully gotten the OtherOS installer to run due to this fact. He accomplished this by putting the otheros.self into a backup game's USRDIR folder, renamed it to EBOOT.BIN, and running it.

You can also run it via AerialX's payload off a usb stick, however this hasn't been tested yet.

You will need the otheros.bld on a usb stick in the directory PS3/OTHEROS/otheros.bld, as otheros.self will try to load this file. This whole process completes successfully, but unfortunately that's where the good news ends.

This will need a lot more hacking to accomplish re-enabling OtherOS, as the otheros menu is still hidden from view on the XMB. This will require some sort of flash hacking to accomplish. The easy part has been done, now the...

GroovyManager PS3 File Manager Proof Of Concept is Available

750°
232w ago - I've created my first POC (proof of concept) version of my PS3 file manager called GroovyManager, with Groovy Installer now also added below as the first update!

This version is VERY basic. I was more concerned with functionality than beauty in this version.

Download: GroovyManager PS3 File Manager Proof Of Concept / Groovy Installer

The main screen is very plain:

Your only option is entering the IP address of your PS3 and then starting the scan.

Note: You must have the PS3 FTP Server running before you start the program.

The program will scan the internal hard drive as well as ALL attached USB hard drives

When it finds a game it copies the PARAM.sfo file and the ICON0.txt file locally to your machine. When all games have been found it parses the PARAM.sfo, creates a txt file of the PARAM.sfo values named Title_ID.txt, renames the PARAM file to TitleID_Drive_PARAM.sfo and the ICON0 file to TitleID_Drive_ICON0.png.

The programs not perfect but most of the issue occur because the PS3 FTP server isn't stable. I still have to do quite a bit with error trapping, reading local drives...
