Square Enix Confirms Just Cause 2 to Arrive in March, 2010 250°
275w ago - Developed by Avalanche Studios and using the proprietary Avalanche 2.0 Engine, Just Cause 2 features over 1000Km (400miles) of South East Asian island paradise in one of the richest, most realistic game worlds ever seen.

Snow-capped mountains, sun-kissed beaches, dense jungle and arid deserts create a stunning backdrop for a unique and compelling take on open-world gameplay.

Press Release: Square Enix London Studios, a part of Square Enix Europe, today announces that the anticipated action sequel to 2006's top-selling Just Cause will release in-stores on March 23rd, 2010, in North America and March 26th, 2010, in Europe, Middle East, and Australasia.

"Just Cause 2 offers the freedom to explore and tackle the world in any way you choose", said Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix London Studios.

"The grapple and the parachute mechanic will change the way you play open-world games, allowing players to be in the air in seconds, tackling missions from above and using the aerial advantage. If you prefer to stay on solid ground, the choices offered by the grapple are limited only by your imagination."

As Rico Rodriguez, the Agency's most powerful weapon, players must take on the island of Panau and its military regime in order to track down Rico's...

US Air Force is Buying 2200 PlayStation 3 Consoles for Research

US Air Force is Buying 2200 PlayStation 3 Consoles for Research 750°
275w ago - The United States Air Force will soon be placing an order with Sony for 2,200 PlayStation 3 consoles... and they're not even going to play games on them.

Instead, the consoles will be headed to the USAF Research Laboratory's information directorate in Rome, New York, where they'll be combined with 336 consoles the lab already own to form a "cluster" of Cell chips.

This cluster will then be put to work grinding out better ways to process high-res radar images, video footage, as well as research on "neuromorphic computing."

To quote: "The Air Force will use the system to "to determine the best fit for implementation of various applications," including commercial and internally developed software specific to the PS3's Cell Broadband Engine processor architecture.

The research will help the Air Force decide where Cell Broadband Engine processor-derived hardware and software could be used in military systems.

The Air Force has used the cluster to test a method of processing multiple radar images into higher resolution composite images (known as synthetic aperture radar image formation), high-def video processing, and "neuromorphic computing," or building computers with brain-like properties."
