NDS Pirate Interview: Sailing the Seas of Nintendo DS Piracy 50°
January 13, 2009 // 10:34 pm - As part of an article investigating Nintendo DS piracy, an NDS pirate was interviewed to ask him his thoughts on the whole affair.

He commented that as he has access to so many games, he only plays them for five minutes before loading up something else and essentially enjoys gaming LESS.

For any pirates out there, has easy access to game also ruined your appetite for serious gaming?

To quote: Of course, these viewpoints fail to counter the fact that video game piracy is fundamentally wrong.

Games may cost a lot of money but they also cost a...

Video Game Piracy: The Widening Problem and How to Stop It 50°
December 8, 2008 // 8:51 pm - iTWire of Australia thinks they have found the best way to limit video game piracy. Upon checking the top sellers list, they found it was dominated by Wii games such as Mario Kart, Wii Fit and Wii Play... all of which come with some kind of peripheral.

So they feel that as the games require the hardware, then people are less inclined to pirate the games. Moreover, special editions can still make a difference with nice little gifts inside such as key rings, extra content discs, etc.

To quote: See a trend? Sure the top three are games for the Wii, but more importantly,...

Koller stated that PSP piracy is trending down right now, and that it has not be as prevalent in the last one to two months.

To quote: "We've made really no secret [that there] certainly has been some piracy on the PSP," said Koller in a phone interview last week. October 16, 2008 // 7:25 pm - A picture (below) was released on the Internet yesterday of a retail copy of Far Cry 2. Many were skeptical on the legitimacy of the picture, but not too long afterwards more reports starting coming in that many Gamestop store managers have received copies of the game.

Whether this is an actual broken release, date or just a manager being a bit cocky is still unclear. It wouldn't be a bad idea though to check your local retail stores tomorrow to see if you can sneak a copy out.

If that's not enough now we have yet ANOTHER batch of reports indicating that Far Cry 2 has...

The Fallout from Fallout 3's Piracy 200°
October 14, 2008 // 3:59 pm - The eagerly anticipated Fallout 3 is nearly upon us, yet a full three weeks before its release rapacious pigs cracked the game and offered it via various torrent sites.

This is the third AAA title that has been hacked and cracked in as many months, leaving publishers frothing at the mouth as they consider even more draconian digital rights management.

To the casual observer this may seem like an overzealous response to retain the vast sea of greenbacks the industry seems to float upon. And that certainly is a concern, after all Electronic Arts is not motivated from a position...
