Cult Studio Llamasoft Blazes Onto PlayStation Vita With TxK

Cult Studio Llamasoft Blazes Onto PlayStation Vita With TxK 100°
97w ago - Llamasoft Founder Jeff Minter announced today that Cult Studio Llamasoft is blazing onto PlayStation Vita with TxK.

Below are the details, to quote: Nearly 20 years ago, in 1994, one of the best-known Llamasoft games ever was released on the Atari Jaguar - the seminal Tempest 2000. This title came to be recognized as one of the finest games on the system.

Based upon an early '80s arcade game, T2K aimed to be more than just a port of an older game. Instead, T2K took that old classic game as an inspiration, and offered up something entirely new and modern.

The original coin-op game was based around a color vector display - a look it was impossible to replicate on raster displays and with graphics hardware of the day, so T2K defined a style all of its own.

The floating platforms in space that defined the play areas were created using Gouraud-shaded polygons, as were the enemies that populated them - in that pre-PlayStation era such polygonal graphics were considered cutting-edge.

T2K also introduced design elements that were to become Llamasoft trademarks - flowing particle systems, full-screen video feedback effects, and objects that shattered into thousands of glowing particles.

Video: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Explodes Onto PSN April 30, 2013

Video: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Explodes Onto PSN April 30, 2013 300°
99w ago - Ubisoft Production Manager Philippe Fournier revealed today that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon explodes onto PSN this April 30, 2013 alongside a new video trailer below.

To quote: Hey guys I'm Philippe Fournier, production manager on the upcoming cyber-shooter Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

It is 2007 - the future. Step into the shoes of Rex Power Colt, a cyber-commando sent to a remote island to stop Colonel Ike Sloan from taking over the world with his rogue cyborg army.

For Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, we wanted to go back to the late 80s and early 90s - what we like to call "the VHS era" - when video games were still new, and over-the-top action movies were at their pinnacle.

Most of the team grew up during those years, so it was a ton of fun to relive this carefree episode of our lives, where we could watch cartoons like MASK or GI Joe with Uncle Dan on Saturday morning.

During the conception phase, our days consisted of watching VHS tapes of action movies sitting in front of an old CRT screen. Our office space looked like a kid's room in the early 90s, with He-Man figurines on our desks and Terminator posters on every wall. We probably had the best Halloween day ever, with people dressed...

DrinkBox Studios: Guacamelee! Rolls Onto PS3 and PS Vita Today

DrinkBox Studios: Guacamelee! Rolls Onto PS3 and PS Vita Today 100°
99w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith announced alongside a launch trailer video that Guacamelee rolls onto PS3 and PS Vita today.

To quote: I'm extra excited to announce that Guacamelee! comes out today on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN.

We're releasing the game as part of the Spring Fever promotion: $14.99 will get you both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, with a 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members.

Still there? Then allow me to add that Guacamelee! is a metroid-vania style brawler that supports Cross-Buy, Cross-Save, Cross-Control, has a precious Platinum trophy, and comes complete with rapid punching action.

Punch, punch, punch! Speaking of which, you may now be saying, "Hey guy, what's up with all of the punch talk?" Take a look...

Well, when we started making Guacamelee! we knew we wanted to include punching, but not just ordinary punching. We built a proof-of-concept demo, a video of which I have included below for your approval.

As you can see, we had blocking, we had holds, and we had charge-up moves. You'll be interested to know that we now have none of those things! Why, you ask?

Stealth Bstard Sneaks Onto PS3 and PS Vita This Summer 50°
100w ago - Curve Studios Lead Designer Sam Robinson has announced today that Stealth Bstard sneaks onto both PS3 and PS Vita video game platforms this Summer.

To qyote: Hello! I am utterly overjoyed to bring you news that Stealth Bstard, our outrageously devious stealth-puzzle platformer, will be sneaking its way on to PS3 and PS Vita this Summer!

If you've not yet heard of Stealth Bstard, it's our deadly stealth platform game with a fast paced twist! Following your birth in a cloning lab, you find yourself trapped in a vast and overwhelming network of dastardly chambers, replete with vicious, yet hilarious, booby traps and deranged robots!

Your task is simple; stay out of sight and get to the exit. Persevere to the bitter end and you might just discover the secrets of this vicious world!

We like to look at Stealth Bstard as stealth gaming without the waiting. Gone are the days of hanging around in a locker or a conveniently-placed human-sized crate! The mechanical foes of our stealth world are much less forgiving, instantly eviscerating you or your fellow captives on sight!

The game boasts brilliantly crisp visuals, an abundance of character, tight controls and a steady difficulty curve that gradually ramps up...
