Sledgehammer Games Making New Call of Duty Title for 2011

300°
260w ago - Activision has announced their plans to expand the Call of Duty brand following the publisher's dismissal of Infinity Ward studio leads Jason West and Vince Zampella, who have now been confirmed as no longer being with the company.

A new game in the Call of Duty series will be released some time in 2011 and will be handled by newly formed Activision studio Sledgehammer Games, lead by Dead Space veterans Glen A. Schofield and Michael Condrey.

While Infinity Ward continue working on downloadable map packs for Modern Warfare 2, Treyarch - the studio behind World at War - will stillrelease their Call of Duty game this autumn.

According to the presser, the Sledgehammer Games title is an "action-adventure" game meaning fans may actually be able to expect two Call of Duty titles in 2011.

Beyond the two CoD titles, Activision also announced their plans to look at new genres for the franchise as well as branching out into the Asian market with the lucrative series.

PS3 Motion Sensor Development Kits Making Way to Devs

400°
299w ago - At E3 2009 Sony first unveiled their new PS3 Motion-sensing Controller for the PlayStation 3 console.

Since then, Sony America marketer Peter Dille has revealed that Sony's motion sensing development kits have already been making their way into the hands of developers.

Dille also revealed that Sony is a bit past the research phase, to quote:

But it seems as if Sony's motion tech is more near completion than previously thought. Sony America marketer Peter Dille told GameSpot that its already found its way into developers hands.

"We're a little bit past the research phase," he said. "We're having conversations with the third-party community. The dev kits have started to go out to the third parties as well. They're working on the tech. They couldn't be more excited about it."

We must admit it did look lots of fun fun aiming arrows at skeletons, as Sony did during its presentation.

That said the smart money would be on Microsoft's Project Natal arriving before PS3's own movement detecting device. Not before Wii MotionPlus hits stores though.

Three Speech Making Way for a New EU PlayStation Blog

50°
307w ago - Sony's semi-official blog 'Three Speech' is to be overtaken by an Official EU PlayStation Blog, in similar fashion to the official North American PlayStation Blog.

To quote: As of April the 17th Three Speech will be bowing out to make way for a brand new and shiny EU PlayStation blog.

It's your feedback, comments and suggestions that have made this possible, so you should all be very proud! Obviously both Three Speech and SCE UK are very grateful to everyone who has made this site so busy and lively over the past two and half years.

Your input has really helped PlayStation to grow, and the new blog will be a further way for you to contribute ideas. It's been good fun meeting all of you and we're looking forward to seeing you on the EU blog!

We'll have more info on this over the next few days...
