Why GTA IV is Next-Gen Gaming 50°
April 30, 2008 // 4:49 pm - You can't ignore the hype and don't pretend not to care. In a few days you'll find out if the most talked-up game of this generation really was worth all the attention it's been receiving since its 2006 unveiling.

We're playing through GTA IV right now, and we're convinced Rockstar's sequel is not only up to the incredible amount of hype (well, most of it), but it's going to be one of the greatest examples of what a so-called 'next-gen' game should be. For the nit-pickers out there, maybe the headline should have read 'Why GTA IV is current-gen'. But that doesn't sound right.

Nintendo's next console will be the best one yet! 50°
April 29, 2008 // 2:21 pm - A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, gamers had an interactive game for their TVs called pong. The game was hailed by computer enthusiasts all over the United States. Soon after pong came what older gamers would remember as Atari which allowed gamers to play many different kinds of games on one console.

A little look at what the experts say on the subject certainly tells us so. An article on Joystiq's PS3 Fanboy gives 10 reasons why the PS3 is back in the swing of things.

EGM and EDGE have both within the last four months run cover stories on the return of the PS3 – titled "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Revenge of the PS3″ (which if nothing else, tells...

What the heck is going on with the console war? 100°
April 15, 2008 // 6:10 pm - What's the deal with Microsoft losing the entire first quarter of 2008's hardware sales to the PS3 and Wii while not really seeming to give care? Is it all show (the not caring part) or what?

Maybe I should start taking bets for what Microsoft's "official" reason will be this time. They've already used up "underestimated demand" and "production capacity issues". My money's going on "Who cares about March anyway?! March is a stupid doo-doo month!"

In anticipation of Thursday's official release of the NPD sales numbers, analysts are predicting...

Video games: the next generation 50°
October 13, 2007 // 6:15 am - The video games industry is obsessed with the phrase "next generation", but what does it actually mean? What can gamers expect from any game given that name?
It would be easy to dismiss the next generation gaming experience as simply eye candy.

The latest games all look great but the potential offered by the processing power of consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS3 does not end there. They also give developers a wealth of new gameplay possibilities.

At Ubisoft's Montreal studio, a team of 300 designers, programmers and artists have spent four years developing Assassin's...
