Criterion: Burnout Paradise PC Demo to Include Full Game

Criterion: Burnout Paradise PC Demo to Include Full Game 50°
325w ago - Here's what you already know: Burnout Paradiseā„¢ The Ultimate Box will be arriving on PC in Feb 2009.

Like both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, this product combines the original Burnout Paradise with all the incredible support content we've developed so far! That means our Cagney Pack update, the Bikes Pack and the forthcoming Party Pack are all included.

Here's what you didn't know - anyone will be able to trial the game for FREE.

When the full game's released in Feb '09, we want all our PC players to be sure it runs perfectly on their system, before they commit to buying it. We also love the game and feel confident that if you try it, you'll want to sign up for more!

But there's a lot of game to show you!

In Burnout Paradise, you're free to explore a massive city, loaded with fun things to do and places to go. Pull up at any of the 120 junctions to start one of 5 event types - Burning Route, Marked Man, Stunt Run, Race and Road Rage.

See if you can find the beach, quarry, dirt track and airfield playgrounds spread through our five boroughs. The city also morphs seamlessly into an online world anytime you want to hook up with your friends and cruise around beating challenges.

So rather than restricting...

Video Game Piracy: The Widening Problem and How to Stop It

Video Game Piracy: The Widening Problem and How to Stop It 50°
325w ago - iTWire of Australia thinks they have found the best way to limit video game piracy. Upon checking the top sellers list, they found it was dominated by Wii games such as Mario Kart, Wii Fit and Wii Play... all of which come with some kind of peripheral.

So they feel that as the games require the hardware, then people are less inclined to pirate the games. Moreover, special editions can still make a difference with nice little gifts inside such as key rings, extra content discs, etc.

To quote: See a trend? Sure the top three are games for the Wii, but more importantly, four of the top 5 have some sort of peripheral hardware associated with the game. This trend continues when you break it down across platforms - at least at the console level.

Guitar Hero: World Tour and its associated microphone, guitar and drum peripherals hold down two of the top ten Nintendo Wii sales chart positions, features in both PS2 and PS3 top ten and along with the Karaoke game, Lips (and its microphones) also appears in the Xbox 360 top ten.

Nintendo have released a bundled pack with Animal Crossing for the Wii, with the Wii Speak peripheral. I think they have cottoned on to it, avoid game piracy by packaging your software with a new piece of hardware, whether the game actually needs it or not.

Five PlayStation 3 RPG Games Being Worked On Internally at Sony

Five PlayStation 3 RPG Games Being Worked On Internally at Sony 250°
326w ago - Shuhei Yoshida finally answers the burning question on many, many, many hardcore gamers minds... Where are the RPG's?!

In a poorly translated Japanese interview from a recent Famitsu magazine, a good soul who visits the site has been able to piece together 3 things for us:

1 - Sony is disappointed in their Japanese business model at the moment
2 - Sony is working on 3rd party relations
3 - Sony is developing 5 RPG's internally for their fanbase

While we already knew 2 of those things we, or at least I, didn't know the last one... I remember seeing an incredible looking series of screenshots from the now defunct Gamesblow's Web site in which he said were Legend of Dragoon 2... they were absolutely mind blowing for an RPG.

I can only hope one of these is in fact LOD2. We also know Dark Cloud 3 is being worked on... but the other 3 seem like a mystery to me.

A direct, not entirely accurate reading, of the snippet:

FM - A strong interest here in Japan is in role playing or deep strategy based games, why has Sony not played to these strengths with the PS3?

Shuhei Yoshida - The inception of a console is one of trial and error. It is never one set path one takes to success and success should never come from an easy path. When...
