Dead Space Producer Glen Schofield wants to Scare You

Dead Space Producer Glen Schofield wants to Scare You 50°
353w ago - EA's Executive Producer Glen Schofield on Dead Space admits to getting a thrill out of putting the fear into gamers.

In this interview he talks about the challenges of pacing 16 hours of game play with enough scary moments and staking claim to the sci-fi horror-survival genre.

Das Gamer: As the creator of a horror game, what actually scares you?

Glen Schofield: Spiders. I hate them. Not sure its fear, probably more hate, but I don't like them.

What scares you when it comes to games?

Glen Schofield: The atmosphere, the unknowing. What's around the next corner, the adjacent room, that closet? With games I know it can come at you from any angle. In movies it's going to be where the camera is pointed.

What do you think the difference is in creating something that scares a gaming audience versus an audience going to see the next edition of Saw?

Glen Schofield: With a movie the director can frame the scene, point the camera and set everything up just perfectly for the scare. In games you have to be prepared for the player to miss moments, to come into them differently than you planned or just see a glimpse of it. "In response to recent speculation, we are pleased to confirm that Peekaboo is in talks to develop a game for the Nintendo Wii that meets mainstream demand for the fun and fitness benefits of pole dancing.

With pole dancing classes springing up in gyms and health clubs across Europe and the USA, the number of women seeking the body-sculpting and fat-burning effects of this aerobic form of exercise has never been greater.

While the Peekaboo Wii game is still in the developmental stage, it can be confirmed that it will not involve Carmen Electra, the inspiration behind our recent Electra Pole Professional Pole Kit.

Peekaboo and its partners are focussed on using Wii friendly hardware to make aerobic pole dancing instantly accessible just as Guitar Hero did for rock'n'roll.

Men and women of all shapes and sizes will be encouraged to work on improving their skills, with the firm focus on fun and fitness as per the core brand values of Nintendo Wii.

GTA IV floating cars drives opinions up in the air

GTA IV floating cars drives opinions up in the air 50°
358w ago - Unless you are living under a rock or in denial, you can't really avoid the videos or at least comments from gamers about the GTA IV videos on message boards across the net.

Well it seems a number of gamers aren't overly happy with a number of things in GTA IV. Whilst it is easy to complain about the game prior to playing it (which is a tad unfair) things like floating cars are there for all to see.

Sandbox games of this nature are known to have glitches and bugs due to their sheer size and complexity, and it appears that GTA IV is no exception. Sadly the QA team let floating cars pass, to the annoyance of a number of gamers who were expecting a more polished game.

We feel that if things like this are going to affect your enjoyment of the game, then perhaps you should find another hobby. There are many great games that have glitches, but still are enjoyable and... great!
