87w ago - Zombie Studios Communications Manager Collin Moore shared a video today spotlighting conversations with the creators of Blacklight: Retribution on PS4 below.

To quote: The last couple months have been amazing for Zombie Studios, and bringing Blacklight: Retribution to the PlayStation 4 makes it even more exciting.

Before E3 we were contacted by Sony representatives who wanted to come to our offices and interview us for Conversations with Creators. After getting answers to a few questions and learning about the other groups involved, we were thrilled and humbled to be included.

If you've been following our progress then you know we've had an awesome first half of the year (especially with our new coffee machine).

You know that we'd been working to get Blacklight: Retribution ready for E3 and, after attending and having thousands of people play it, we're happy to report all those long nights were worth it.

We still remember when our PlayStation 4 development kits arrived and the excitement it created within the office. Being involved with a platform launch is a special badge of honor, and we're thrilled to be a part of it.

Our goal with Blacklight: Retribution is to make the best free-to-play first person shooter, and the PlayStation 4 is allowing...

Sony Announces Puppeteer Demo is Coming Soon to PlayStation 3

50°
87w ago - Today Sony Worldwide Studios Art Director Gavin Moore announced that a Puppeteer demo is coming soon to PlayStation 3 fans.

To quote: We're getting closer and closer to the release of Puppeteer! In preparation for release, I'm happy to announce that a playable demo demonstrating the essence of Puppeteer's gameplay will be made available in Europe prior to launch.

We plan on packing loads of content into the demo, and we hope it will give you a great idea of how the finished game will feel when it hits PlayStation 3 on 11th September.

While we're on the topic of demos, maybe some of you have heard of Puppeteer's 'Rehearsal Edition', which releases on Japan's PlayStation Store this week.

The Rehearsal Edition is not a traditional game demo but rather a uniquely regional way to introduce the world of Puppeteer.

The brief interactive stage specially designed for this concept gives Japanese gamers a peak behind the curtain at the cast of Puppeteer as they prepare for the 'big show'. The characters can be seen busily rehearsing while the crew put together the elaborate set pieces to be used in the bunraku - or 'puppet theatre' - that serves as the game's setting.

In order to let Japanese players fully soak in the atmosphere,...

Sony PlayStation 4 / PS4 Orbis OS Development Details Surface

400°
88w ago - Today some Sony PlayStation 4 / PS4 Orbis OS development details have surfaced from VGLeaks (linked above) as follows, to quote:

"We have some details about the development of the PlayStation 4 OS.

The Operating System is called "Orbis OS". It is a modified version of FreeBSD 9.0.

We aren't sure if this will bring again the "Other OS" functions to PlayStation 4 (remember that this option enabled PlayStation 3 to install other OS in the console like linux or windows).

When you boot up a second-gen development kit, you will be prompted with several options, as you can see in the next captures:

More options appear when you choose startup settings:

As you can imagine you have either a console mode or a graphic mode (the one you will see in a retail PlayStation 4).

Here you can see some images of the console mode and some of the files/directories in the devkit:

We'll try to add more information in the future."

Transistor Interview: Why Indies Matter on PlayStation 4 / PS4

50°
88w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared a Transistor interview today on why Indies Matter on PlayStation 4 / PS4 below.

To quote: One of the stand-out moment at this year's PlayStation press briefing at E3, for me at least, was when eight independent developers took to the stage to show off their PS4 titles.

As Adam Boyes explained following the show, indie games are a key part of what makes PS4 such a special platform, and it was a landmark moment seeing these fantastic teams sharing the limelight with AAA titles such as Assassin's Creed IV and Final Fantasy XV.

Leading them out were Greg Kasavin and Amir Rao of Supergiant Games, who announced that Transistor, their bewitchingly beautiful follow-up to smash hit action RPG Bastion, will be debuting on PS4 when development wraps up in 2014.

I caught up with Greg on the showfloor the following day to pick his brains about the role of indies on our new platform, and to find out a little more about Transistor.

PlayStation.Blog: Supergiant started out just a few years ago in 2009 as a humble developer with just two staff members (it's now up to 10). Fast forward to 2013 and you're presenting your new game onstage at the PlayStation E3 press conference. That must feel surreal...
