Game Arts Unveils Grandia PSOne Classic Hits PSN This Week

Game Arts Unveils Grandia PSOne Classic Hits PSN This Week 100°
262w ago - Today Game Arts Sound Director Takahiro Nishi has unveiled that Grandia PSOne Classic will be hitting PSN later this week.

To quote: Finally! Grandia will be available for download on the North American PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 and PSP this Thursday for $9.99!

Since the title launched on the Japanese PlayStation Network in April of 2009, we have received many inquiries about the North American launch.

And it wasn't so easy to keep our lips zipped under such circumstances, but the day has finally come! Well, let me tell you a bit about the game.

Grandia is an unforgettable journey with over 80 hours of gameplay, and it was released over 10 years ago for the PSOne and became one of the most critically acclaimed RPG games.

The player assumes the role of Justin, a young boy obsessed with becoming a great adventurer, who inherits a magic stone that leads him on an epic journey to uncover the mystery of a long lost civilization. And, he meets other adventurers who join him on his quest and as he unravels the threads of the ancient legend, he draws the attention of the Garlyle Forces who devise...

Atlus Unveils 3D Dot Game Heroes Editor for PlayStation 3

Atlus Unveils 3D Dot Game Heroes Editor for PlayStation 3 50°
263w ago - Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has unveiled the editor today for 3D Dot Game Heroes on PlayStation 3.

To quote: Most games ask you to assume the role of a hero. Often, you don't have any say in who they are or what they look like, and in some cases the customization options you're given are limited.

3D Dot Game Heroes, while it takes its inspiration and purpose from 8 and 16-bit classics that came out years ago, gives the gamer nearly limitless control over the look (and movement) of their protagonist.

The game may be all homage, but it's certainly not out to limit anyone's homagination! *crickets chirp*

Err... Let's dive into the all-powerful, easy-to-use editor, shall we? One of the custom characters that comes included on the disc. I'll call him... Monkey Kong?

Creating a custom character in 3DDGH (my fingers thank me for the abbreviation, so please note it) is more than just figuring out what it will be and look like; you have to animate it, too. Before the self-proclaimed "artistically-challenged" gamers run for the hills, snapping paintbrushes between their thumbs and index fingers, I'll point out a couple of things.

First, the North American release of...

Video: Sega Unveils Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Episode I 250°
265w ago - Sega has unveiled Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, previously Project Needlemouse, on Gamespot (linked above) which will be downloadable on Sony's PS3, Microsoft's XBox 360 and the Nintendo Wii console.

While the game retains the classic 2D gameplay that made the series great, Sonic 4 will include 3D visuals, and be digitally released over Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, WiiWare and the iPhone.

Due this summer, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 will take place after Sonic & Knuckles, but is "a brand-new adventure... what you are looking at is the beginning of a new story arc," says associate brand manager, Ken Balough to GameSpot:

"I think the best way to view it is as a first part in a much larger adventure. When Sega released Sonic 3, ultimately it was the part 1 of a story that saw its conclusion in Sonic & Knuckles.

In that same spirit, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a bigger story, and this is that first chapter. I think it's also safe to say that by the end of the episode one, fans will be very excited to see what's in store for episode two!"

"We're going to deliver a Genesis-era Sonic game as if it were created today that goes to the core of what classic Sonic fans desire. All the Sonic favorites [are] here for sure!

Spin dash, power sneakers,...
