289w ago - Update: According to German site EuroGamer.de, the MAG public BETA will begin on September 17, 2009 as confirmed by Andy Beaudoin, chief designer at Zipper Interactive.

Today Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a MAG GamesCom Virtual Booth Tour video on the PlayStation Blog.

To quote: On day one of Gamescom Cologne, even the jet lag of a 40-hour day couldn't keep me from stumbling my way over to MAG in the PlayStation booth.

There, I found Seth Luisi, Director of Development at SCEA, who walked us through a 128-player "Acquisition" mode Valor map that's playable on the show floor.

Check out the video, and don't forget that Qore subscribers will have the chance to get in on the MAG Official Public Beta on September 17!

Video: Free60 - New JTAG Hack Booting Off a Cygnos360 NAND

Video: Free60 - New JTAG Hack Booting Off a Cygnos360 NAND 550°
290w ago - Today xZool2k9 has released a video demonstrating the upcoming Free60 Homebrew Exploit for XBox 360 consoles.

The video is available below, and to quote from the caption:

This is the confirmation that the hack announced by Tmbinc is actually working. I have used a sample Cygnos360 V2 I got from Team Cygnos and flashed the hack onto the second NAND. The onboard NAND was untouched by that.

As you can see I can still switch to the NXE dash. When switching to the NAND onboard of Cygnos the blue LED lights up on the USB daughter board. I can then boot straight of that NAND.

AMAZING WORK TMBINC!!!!!!

Rumor: Leaked Photos Tease Tomb Raider Reboot Multiplatform

Rumor: Leaked Photos Tease Tomb Raider Reboot Multiplatform 250°
295w ago - An underground agent, reportedly working in conjunction with Four Player Co-Op, snagged some alleged screengrabs of concept art and details for a new Tomb Raider game.

To quote: According to the text accompanying the art, Lara's new adventure will be open-world, will feature a reworked combat system and - most importantly - will serve as an origin story for the young heiress.

Anonymity breeds contempt in the gaming news world - however, this report is supported by four pieces of news that have dropped in the past two months:

1. Eidos' president said the next Tomb Raider game will "reinvigorate the franchise."
2. Crystal Dynamics is hiring folks to work on an installment in a "AAA franchise."
3. Toby Gard, the series' creator, is leading a design group for an "unannounced project."
4. Eidos is terrible at keeping its secret games under wraps.

Project: OurOS Bootloader for PS3 Linux in Development

Project: OurOS Bootloader for PS3 Linux in Development 300°
295w ago - Similar to both the Petitboot Bootloader and pdaXrom-NG Bootloader for PS3 Linux, the OurOS project in development is a Linux-based user interface for the PS3.

To quote: It's goals are to provide an easy to install and easy to use graphical environment for the OtherOS platform.

Easy to install means a user will just have to install an otheros.bld file using the XMB and have a storage device available (USB storage device or OtherOS partitioned internal HDD).

Easy to use means no messing around with package managers or command lines, since we know what the hardware is we can forgo a lot of the usual linux setup tasks. And since we're only targeting certain applications we do not need the normal linux style package management system and can use something simple and self contained.

From a developers perspective OurOS will provide a consistent environment to target, and will also come with a ready to use toolchain.

The only download to date is a Skeleton PS3 Driver for DirectFB-1.4.0, however,...

Video: E3 2009 Virtual Booth Tour: Heavy Rain for PS3 50°
299w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has posted another post-E3 2009 video today on the PlayStation Blog. This time, it's the Virtual Booth Tour for Heavy Rain on PS3.

To quote: Here we present our fourth and final E3 09 Virtual Booth Tour, this one for Heavy Rain. In this piece, Quantic Dream's Guilleaume de Fondaumiere walks you through the "Mad Jack" scene, showing off a number of elements of the game, and introducing you to major character Norman Jayden. Please note we've age-gated the video for language and violence.

We hope you've enjoyed these Virtual Booth Tours, and let us know if you'd like us to do more such things in the future.

Again, the goal for us was to help bring you "into" E3. Your feedback is appreciated!
