Uncharted 2 for PS3 to Include Multiplayer, Beta Starts June 3rd

100°
305w ago - Today Naughty God Co-President Evan Wells announced the following news via PlayStation Blog:

So the rumors are true and we can finally talk about it! As you've heard and read, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will have both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.

We managed to keep the secret completely safe for over a year and a half, but right in the home stretch before the embargo lifted today, word got out all over the internet. Of course the leaked info was only the tip of the iceberg and there is a ton of coverage being released today on dozens and dozens of Web sites.

Check out a multiplayer trailer we just finished before the weekend.

So, pick your favorite videogame news site and go check out the coverage from our event last week. If print magazines are your thing, we've gotten word that we'll also be in more than a few magazines around the world in the next few weeks.

If you've been looking closely at our interviews, our team here at Naughty Dog has been growing rapidly and we now have quite a few more Dogs on staff than when work finished on UNCHARTED: Drake's Fortune. It shouldn't be a surprise that we had to grow our studio to tackle the task of...

Rumor: Inside Source Claims PS3 & PSP Price Cut in Early June

400°
305w ago - According to an internal 'proven' source of French Web site PS3Gen.fr, it's been unofficially confirmed that both the PS3 and PSP will receive price drops in early June.

This would obviously correspond with E3, which is scheduled to run between June 2 and June 4.

To quote: Although the source didn't reveal the new price for the PS3, it did provide the new price point for the handheld: 169 Euros, down from 189.

Of course, even if accurate, this information may only apply to the European/PAL regions, but we find it hard to believe that Sony wouldn't have this pair of price cuts spread worldwide. Additionally, the mystery source confirmed the existence of the much-rumored PSP 2, which should be available for the end of the year.

We've already received many pieces of evidence for a new PSP model; either the PSP-4000 or a PSP 2, and that includes the theory that it will be designed to compete with the iPhone. It sounds plausible, but with nothing concrete to solidify the claims, we still can't call it anything but "rumor and speculation."

And if you don't already know, Sony's business policy has always been the same: they simply don't comment on rumor and speculation.

Sony's PSP Detective Game Negotiates June 2009 Release

50°
306w ago - Does a game called Okage: Shadow King ring a bell? This PSP game is from the same developer, Zener Works.

First seen at Tokyo Game Show, Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot is a visual novel where players negotiate tense situations.

See how the portraits push each other? It's more than a dramatic effect. This lets players know how close they are at pushing their negotiations.

Even though it hasn't gotten much attention, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will release Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot in on June 18. There's little chance that Sony will give this game a retail release, but if Patapon 2 can go digital why can't this?

Unlike the Japanese release, the US release will include a plethora of subtitle options: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Arabic and Dutch.

• On the Way to a Smile - Episode: Denzel Animated Film
• Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Trailers
• Exclusive Sneak Peek at Final Fantasy XIII

We're hoping the "exclusive sneak peek" will be playable, as it is in Japan, but we're not holding our breath.

200°
307w ago - Today SCEA Marketing Manager Asad Qizilbash has announced that the June release date for inFamous on Sony's PS3 has been bumped up to May 26, 2009.

To quote: Many of you may be wondering when we plan to announce the release date for inFamous. Well today, we have a little surprise for you... the release month is no longer June. Now wait, I know what you're thinking... inFamous is NOT delayed, in fact, the guys up at Sucker Punch have been working so hard that the game will be releasing in the U.S. on May 26!

Now with just a little over a month until the game hits shelves, inFamous pre-order goodness begins today. Those who pre-order the game at participating retailers will have a chance to get one of the following:

• An exclusive 'Gigawatt Blades' Super Power: The Gigawatt Blades supercharges Cole's arm into an instrument of destruction unmatched by any other melee weapon in game. Although very powerful, you'll still have to use this weapon wisely, as it takes a considerable drain on your powers.

• Limited-edition inFamous costume for Home Avatar - Look like one of the REAPER gang members.

• Early access to the official Game Demo. Be one of the first to play inFamous on May 7th.

And, yes,...
