368w ago - Mainman has updated his PS3 NAND Extractor/UnPacker to v0.4 recently! Changes to the latest revision include support for multiple dumps. The NAND Tool now scans for files, versus using a fixed position making it much more robust with extracting files.

It includes BETA support for the 40gb PlayStation 3 flash, however, we are still working out a few major bugs prior to a public release.

As mentioned above, extraction now dumps the files, plus additional data including the IDL section. It extracts the MAC Address, and also dumps the asecure loader section. More on this soon..

In other news, we are waiting for the InFeCtuS Team to update their program to support the new Samsung Flash revision, so we can experiment more with our recently discovered PS3 downgrading technique. Until then, not much new to report on this area yet.

Finally, we have been successful with running PS3 Retail game back-ups on a PS3 Test from both Internal and USB HDD (along with DVD). Unlike PS2 and PS1 development systems, a PS3 Test won't play a 1:1 copy/scene release.

It only plays development copies, so the executables (EBOOT.BIN) had to be decrypted and rebuilt for them to load. However, as mentioned previously,...

368w ago - Dark_AleX released an update today for the 1.50 kernel add-on for standard PSP units running Custom Firmware 3.90 M33.

The update adds support for memory sticks greater than 4GB in size under the 1.5 kernel and fixes a display bug that affected TA-86 units when resuming from sleep mode.

To install, simply copy the "150k_installer" folder to GAME and run the installer from the PSP's Game menu.

Download: PSP 1.5 Kernel Add-on v2 for 3.90 M33 CFW [Right-click, Save As]

Instructions: Copy to /PSP/GAME and run.

Changes:

- TA086: when being in 4th brightness level and recovering from sleep mode, the display was black. Fixed.
- Added support in the 1.50 kernel for memory sticks greater than 4 GB. (I finally got my 8GB card! )
Before, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel.
Now, the theroetical limit is 4GB*512 = 2 Terabytes. ("only" 1 TB, if sony were using signed variables).

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare v1.5 fixes:

- Fixed server browser not showing all of the servers
- The "hold [ ] to steady" sniper scope hint will only appear if you can use itt
- Fixed game not recognizing IWDs existing if they are all in fs_basepath and none are in the main/ folder
- Made mod scripts able to change stats
- Allow developer_script for mulitiplayer modding
- Fixed map rotation errors with usermaps
- Fixed minimap not showing up in the menu for usermaps
- Mod tools will now work with other languages

NOTE: patch 1.5 is not compatible with 1.4. You will not be able to find 1.4 servers if you update.

370w ago - Dark_AleX has updated to PSP M33 CFW v3.90 today! The firmware update can be applied either directly via Network Update if you're already on 3.80 M33, or by following the manual instructions below.

The previously released 3.80 M33 POPSLoader does work with 3.90 M33. However, you cannot run the 3.80 POPS with it. Also released today is a 1.5 kernel add-on for regular (non-Slim) PSP units running 3.90 M33. Instructions for installing the add-on are provided below as well.

v3.90 M33 CFW Instructions:

- Copy the UPDATE folder into /PSP/GAME/
- Get the 3.90 sony update from somewhere, and put it in same folder, with name "390.PBP".
Alternatively, you can let the installer to download for you via wifi.
- Run it, the update will be done by Sony updater. At the end when you are asked to reboot the
PSP pressing X or O, do it.

v3.90 Changes:

- 3.80 -> 3.90
- March33 NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)

370w ago - A new PSP Firmware Update is now available via Network Update. Firmware 3.90 includes the following changes:

* Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded.
* Skype has been added as a feature under Network.

Downloads: PSP v3.90 FW (US) / PSP v3.90 FW (EU)

It's important to note that the Skype feature is exclusive to PSP Slim units.
