Ubisoft Writer Reveals to OPM that Far Cry 3 is in Development

Ubisoft Writer Reveals to OPM that Far Cry 3 is in Development 100°
275w ago - Today Ubisoft scriptwriter Kevin Shortt revealed to The Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM) that although not personally working on Far Cry 3 he knows the team that is and it looks pretty exciting.

To quote: "Speaking at a recent Avatar junket, OPM asked Ubisoft scribe Kevin Shortt if he was working on a third Far Cry title and instead of the usual "no comment", the mag received a refreshing response...

"No I'm not," he replied honestly. "But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting." Far Cry 3 confirmed then, just like that.

Other than that blatant response, it's mostly guess work so far on what we should expect from Far Cry 3.

Last year though narrative designer Patrick Redding did mention that a sequel would likely retain an African setting, though he also mentioned Antarctica as a possibility."

Sony Quiz Reveals God of War 3 to Have PS3 Online Co-op Modes

Sony Quiz Reveals God of War 3 to Have PS3 Online Co-op Modes 250°
276w ago - Update: According to Examiner.com God of War 3 will not feature online co-op after all, per Eric Levine of Sony's Product Public Relations who simply stated: "This news is false."

This weekend a Sony employee questionnaire has leaked God of War 3 details of upcoming PS3 online co-op modes.

According to a quiz on the Sony Retail Loyalty Site module (which educates retail workers about upcoming Sony products), God of War III will indeed include online co-op modes when it is available in March, 2010.

As the quiz comes from an official Sony-funded Web site, it's safe to assume this is valid, although no official comment has been made from the company as of yet.

To quote: "You read it right! God of War III will feature online cooperative modes.

There have been rumors flying across the Web regarding cooperative modes for God of War III, but I am here to confirm it to all. March 2010 just cannot come soon enough!"

Sony Reveals Why PSOne Classics Have No Set PSN Release Date

Sony Reveals Why PSOne Classics Have No Set PSN Release Date 250°
277w ago - Today the sleuths at Examiner.com (linked above) have uncovered a reply from Sony's PlayStation Store Senior Manager Grace Chen explaining why PSOne Classics have no set PSN release date.

Although the answer isn't surprising, it's definitely good to know why classics such as Final Fantasy VIII are not available in the States to date.

To quote: "Ever since Sony announced PSOne Classics for the PSP and PlayStation 3, new releases have been inconsistent and often appear suddenly without any prior announcements.

Grace Chen, Senior Manager of the PlayStation Store, explain why this is the case on the comment section of the Playstation.Blog:

There are a variety of reasons that need to be considered when releasing PSOne Classics... code emulation and testing, licensing rights, music clearances, etc.

Although the process may not always be smooth, Sony has definitely been picking up the pace in 2009 with new PSOne Classics."

Kazunori Yamauchi Reveals New Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Details

Kazunori Yamauchi Reveals New Gran Turismo 5 PS3 Details 50°
278w ago - Autoweek.com (linked above) met with Gran Turismo creator and godfather Kazunori Yamauchi at SEMA and asked him several questions about the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for Sony's PS3 console.

To quote from the interview:

When will you release GT5?

Yamauchi: We will release it in March in Japan but for other regions, it has not been decided yet.

What's holding it up?

That's more depending on SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) marketing decisions.

Have you spoken with those guys?

My job is to create the product, not sell it.

What's taking so long with the product, then?

From our perspective, it doesn't seem like that long a time. To make Gran Turismo 5, we threw away the legacy code from GT4 and started from scratch. It's been five years from [the release of] GT4, and that's the same amount of time it took to develop the first GT4. To create a game from scratch, that's the amount of time it takes to get it right.

You're at the SEMA show, what do you think?

Every time I come to SEMA, I can feel the passion of the car owners who bring their cars here. The SEMA show is different from what you see at a typical motor show. There is more passion...
