Nintendo Wii Homebrew Channel BETA 10, AKA Your Last Chance 200°
November 6, 2008 // 7:47 pm - Great news from marcan of Team Twiizers as follows:

As you all know, we're getting busy with several other projects, and HBC isn't a priority. However, the BETA 9 release had a few rough edges, and some things that should have been fixed weren't.

So we're giving you the chance to voice your pet peeves about HBC now, and we'll release a new version soon. Consider this version "final" at least for the time being.

HBC is basically feature-complete, so we won't be adding any new major features, but we want to get rid of some remaining bugs...

Rumor: Video - Nintendo DSi is Hacked?! 50°
November 4, 2008 // 6:30 pm - Yasu, the author of YSMenu, has posted a video on his YouTube account that claims to show the new Nintendo DSi running a simple homebrew proof of concept - the famous "Hello World!".

The video shows a bounding box on the upper screen showing the text "Yasu software Hello World!". The touch screen appears to be unused and shows just a white screen. There is no mention on how the hack has been performed, or from where the exploit is running (slot-1 flash cart? SD card? Wi-fi?), hopefully more information will follow soon.

If this is indeed real, it is surely fantastic...

Nintendo DSi Sells Out in Japan 50°
November 4, 2008 // 6:30 pm - The November 1st Japanese release of the new Nintendo DSi has been a success.

The initial allocation of 200,000 retail units has sold out in four days, with most of the sales coming from pre-orders.

TechRadar notes that an additional 100,000 units are set to ship to stores in Japan over the next week or so. The site also notes that eBay is rife with scalpers offering the new DSi for practically double the cost of the Japanese recommended retail price.

Nintendo has yet to announce a firm release date for the Nintendo DSi in territories other than Japan.

Preview: The Conduit for Nintendo Wii 50°
November 4, 2008 // 12:54 am - All things considered, The Conduit shouldn't really be getting the attention it deserves. After all, it's being developed by High Voltage Software, a studio that's not exactly well known for the quality of its games.

Its back catalogue features such gems as Ben 10, The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy and the Family Guy videogame. Add to this the fact that the game didn't even have a publisher until the middle of September and it's hard to figure out why the game's so eagerly anticipated.

Of course, the reason it is getting attention is because it looks great for a Wii...

DSi Blocks Nintendo DS Flashcards from Operating 100°
October 31, 2008 // 5:02 pm - Nintendo has done what we all expected and blocked the Nintendo DSi from running what seems to be nearly every single flash card on the market.

If you have a CycloDS, G6 DS Real, M3 DS Real, Supercard DS One, iTouch DS, FCard, NCard, M3 DS Simply, U2DS, R4 DS and EZ Flash V don't expect any of them to work.

It seems the DSi blocks both auto boot cards and ones that boot from the menu. If it's auto boot it crashes and while the others show up in the menu, but once selected come up with an error.

Bad news for pirates, good news for Nintendo and bad news...

To quote: Beta9 would have been out a few days ago, but then Nintendo came up with the new October 23 update with perfect timing, so we had to make sure the beta9 installer was compatible (read: exploited a new bug nobody knew about until then).
