Microsoft CES Keynote Overview - Utterly Underwhelming 50°
January 6, 2008 // 10:35 pm - You've read our Live Blog of Microsoft's CES Keynote, now here's the impressions. What a waste of time. No product announcements, no talk of what we can expect over the next year. It was an hour long boast session. "Look what we did".

I don't know if the HD-DVD cancellation cut out any announcements or what, but this was pathetic and boring. I'm going to go on record as to say it was the worst keynote from Microsoft ever.

Here's what happening, in a nutshell. They showed off Windows Live and all it's components, then bragged about how cool it is. Said how cool Xbox...

In 2008 that gap will just widen."

Waynick praised Warner Brothers' decision to stop supporting HD DVD and said that the move was "in response to consumer demand".

Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and CEO, Sony Corporation also praised the decision.

"All of us at Sony are feeling...

Apple sued for not supporting WMA 50°
January 5, 2008 // 5:49 pm - Its an Apple Product produced by Apple which competes with Windows which means they can put support for any files if they want.

The new year is here as well as the lawsuits for big named companies. A person who shall remained unnamed because I dont want her to gain recognition from anyone has sued Apple for not allowing iPods to support the WMA format.

The person alledges that Apple is involved in "Unfair Practices" by disableling the WMA feature on their Apple Products. It is an Apple product so basically Apple can support the format they want. Just like a Windows PC...

January 4, 2008 // 1:10 pm - Washington (DC) - The Recording Industry Association of America has filed a landmark federal lawsuit in Arizona, claiming that it is illegal for users to make copies of CD tracks to their computer for personal use.

The RIAA is going after Jeffrey Howell of Scottsdale, AZ. The group alleges that Howell shared 54 music files over the peer-to-peer network Kazaa. This kind of complaint has become commonplace for the RIAA, but they added something different to this lawsuit.

Ira Schwartz, an Arizona-based lawyer for the trade group, says Howell is also guilty of making "unauthorized...

SONY OLED TV XEL 1 Review 300°
January 4, 2008 // 1:09 pm - Pros: This is one very sleek unit. In fact almost everything is irrelevant to the quality of the OLED panel and the sheer thin width of the screen. And for LCD TV and Plasma the writing could be on the wall with OLED.

Cons: The weakness of this early unit is the control buttons and the lack of flexibility in the arm that links the ulta thin screen with the base control unit.

Smart House today got an exclusive FIRST LOOK at the new OLED TV technology from Sony and it is impressive. The first thing one notice's is the dramatic improvement in OLED screen quality. It sharper...

Why PS3's power will shine in 2008 350°
January 3, 2008 // 12:22 pm - PlayStation 3 will flourish in 2008 - not our words, but the emerging consensus among the global development community. With genuinely exciting exclusives flickering on the horizon (see our recent MGS4 hands-on and in-depth details) and a growing community of developers coming to grips with the possibilities on offer from the hardware, the future's looking bright.

While some developers have been critical of PS3's complex architecture (yes, Gabe Newell from Valve, we're pointing at you) many more are praising the power and potential of the machine.

"The amount of action...
