Spiky Fish Games Unveils Sketchcross, A Puzzle Game for PS Vita

Spiky Fish Games Unveils Sketchcross, A Puzzle Game for PS Vita 50°
17w ago - Spiky Fish Games CEO Kendal Cormany unveiled Sketchcross, a puzzle game for PS Vita today with details below.

To quote: Hi everyone, my name is Kendal and I'm the CEO and lead programmer at Spiky Fish Games. We're excited to announce that our debut game, Sketchcross, is launching exclusively for PS Vita in early 2015.

Sketchcross is a logic puzzler based on the nonogram ruleset. If you're not familiar, think of a mix between crosswords and sudoku. You're given number clues on the rows and columns to help sketch in the corresponding squares on the grid.

Doing so starts to reveal the picture you're creating. A full-fledged nonogram-based game has not yet been fully realized for Playstation here in North America, and we were determined to change that.

Sketchcross will launch with 50 puzzles ranging from simple 5X5 shapes to complex 30X30 animals. The game has been designed to be easily expandable and our plan is to offer additional puzzles after launch.

Solving puzzles reveals the completed shape in block form, solving all the puzzles in a book awards the player that book's unique trophy. Trophy's are stored in your trophy room and are accessible at any time. Additionally, each puzzle has a time leaderboard where you can compare your completed times with the...

To quote: It's been an amazing E3. From the PlayStation Press Conference to the days that followed, we had a series of reveals that shed more light onto The Order: 1886.

We went into E3 with two demos that illustrated different aspects of the game: the battle in the streets of Whitechapel and the Lycan reveal in the London Hospital.

• Learn more about The Order: 1886

It was great to see players finally get their hands on the demo and accustom themselves with one of our signature weapons, the Thermite Rifle. We also debuted Blacksight, a gameplay mechanic based on the Knights' use of Blackwater, and saw many players make good use of it against the Rebels.

Now, with the show behind us, we are diving back into development. Thanks to everyone who came by our booth and...

Atomicom Unveils The Art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4, PS Vita

Atomicom Unveils The Art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4, PS Vita 50°
42w ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols unveils the art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4 and PS Vita with details below.

To quote: Greetings - Gary from Atomicom here with an update on Switch Galaxy Ultra, our insanely-fast, reaction-based arcade game that's been developed as an update to our critically acclaimed PlayStation Mobile title Switch Galaxy.

We've been off the radar a bit as we had our heads down squeezing every last drop of art, code, and blood into the game and it's shaped up to be something we're very proud of. Both the PS4 and PS Vita versions are running in super smooth 60 FPS with the PS4 version at 1080p.

Both feature online multiplayer with two modes of play for up to four players, and we've incorporated cross play so you can compete against your buddies across PS4 and PS Vita. We also have cross buy and cloud save so everyone with a PS4 and Vita combo is getting a real treat.

Finally, there are also seven player ships, all fully upgradable and a ton of fiendishly fast levels - plus an endless survival mode. If that wasn't enough, we also have an awesome twenty two-page comic that unlocks as you play through the game. More on that shortly.

We've been working with WipeOut Co-Creator and Psygnosis art legend Jim Bowers, who has taken time out from...

Video: Breakfall Unveils Starwhal: Just the Tip Flopping to PS4, PS3

Video: Breakfall Unveils Starwhal: Just the Tip Flopping to PS4, PS3 50°
44w ago - Breakfall Developer and Lead Coffee Runner Jason Nuyens unveiled Starwhal: Just the Tip is flopping to PS4 and PS3 platforms today.

Below is a video of the PlayStation title in action, and to quote: It took well until adulthood to see the creation of the development superforce now known as Breakfall, but we build games on the basis of certain shared common experiences.

It was true for the whole team that games were a huge part of our everyday lives as we grew up. Games were a primary source of entertainment, but we also share the common experience of using games as a focal point for our young, proto-nerd social lives.

Whether it was as kids whispering the latest videogame tricks in the playground, or elbowing each other on a sofa during multiplayer mayhem after school, the core idea is that games have always been a great way to bring people together.

For Breakfall's latest game, Starwhal: Just the Tip, we tapped into our love of a number of game design paradigms (because now that we're mostly grown up nerds, we like fancy words sometimes).

Ideas like elegance in mechanics, simplicity in design, hard-hitting, impactful feel, and - naturally - burrito-wrapped...
